Job Description
We are seeking a technically proficient and analytically driven Reservoir Engineering Analyst to support Energy Credit Engineering initiatives across Reserve Based Lending (RBL), Energy Asset-Backed Securities (ABS), and portfolio risk management activities. This role provides advanced analytical support, benchmarking, forecasting diagnostics, and process improvement capabilities that enhance credit decision-making, forecast accuracy, and risk management.
The Reservoir Engineering Analyst will own and maintain engineering analytical frameworks, perform basin and portfolio-level performance analysis, lead lookback and forecasting accuracy programs, and develop standardized benchmarking methodologies used across the engineering function. The position will partner closely with Reservoir Engineers, Underwriters, Portfolio Managers, and Risk teams to improve consistency, scalability, and technical rigor within energy credit evaluations while serving as a key resource for data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain basin-level and portfolio-level benchmarking analyses, including decline rates, operating costs, pricing differentials, reserve performance, and production trends.
  • Lead lookback analysis programs to measure forecast accuracy, identify performance drivers, and improve underwriting and engineering assumptions.
  • Design, maintain, and enhance analytical frameworks used to support engineering risk assessments, portfolio surveillance, and Energy ABS evaluations.
  • Perform engineering and economic analyses, including production forecasting, reserve performance reviews, benchmarking studies, and data validation initiatives.
  • Create reporting tools, dashboards, and data visualizations that support engineering, underwriting, portfolio management, and risk management decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to automate workflows, improve data quality, and reduce operational risk through analytical solutions and process enhancements.
  • Perform technical quality-control reviews of engineering datasets, assumptions, and supporting documentation to improve consistency and reduce human error.
  • Collaborate with Reservoir Engineers, Underwriters, Portfolio Managers, and Risk partners to translate business requirements into actionable analytical insights.
  • Support the development of standardized engineering metrics, risk-ranking methodologies, benchmarking frameworks, and portfolio monitoring tools.
  • Provide analytical support for Energy ABS, derivatives, portfolio surveillance, and lead-bank RBL transactions.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically more than 10 years of applicable experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Geoscience, Mathematics, Finance, or a related technical discipline.
  • Typically 15+ years of applicable oil and gas industry, engineering, analytical, or energy finance experience.
  • Experience working with production, reserves, economic, and operational datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex analytical projects and deliver actionable insights.
  • Strong understanding of reservoir engineering principles, reserve evaluations, decline curve analysis, production forecasting, and economic analysis.
  • Experience with ARIES, Power BI, SQL, Python, Spotfire, Access, or other analytical and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of upstream oil and gas operations, reserve-based lending, engineering due diligence, and energy asset-backed securities.
  • Ability to perform large-scale data analysis and develop scalable analytical frameworks and benchmarking methodologies.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience developing lookback programs, forecasting diagnostics, risk metrics, or performance measurement processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify data anomalies, forecasting risks, operational trends, and process improvement opportunities.
