Job description

Sharpen is hiring a Platform Engineer to help scale and evolve the core infrastructure that powers our cloud-native SaaS platform. You’ll work closely with our Platform Engineering Lead and other engineering teams to design, build, and maintain the systems, tools, and workflows that make our product development fast, reliable, and secure. 

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an environment where automation, observability, and DevOps culture are core values and who wants to grow into a technical leadership path over time. 

What You’ll Do 

● Help design, build, and maintain our AWS-based infrastructure using IaC tools like AWS CDK or Terraform 

● Build internal tooling and developer experience improvements to reduce friction across engineering 

● Contribute to our observability and incident response strategy (Grafana, OpenTelemetry, etc.) 

● Participate in on-call rotations and help us refine our operational excellence practices 

● Collaborate with developers, QA, and security to ensure our infrastructure is stable, compliant, and cost-efficient 

● Support the adoption of DevOps best practices and participate in architectural discussions for new services 

What We’re Looking For 

● 1+ years of experience as a platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineer 

● Hands-on experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools (CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) 

● Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.) 

● Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and tracing tools like Grafana or OpenTelemetry 

● Comfortable working with containerized applications in ECS, EKS, or similar environments 

● Solid scripting or programming experience in languages like TypeScript, Go, Python, or Bash 

● A bias for automation and a mindset of continual improvement 

● Experience using AI to automate and streamline workflows 

Nice to Have 

● Experience supporting multi-tenant SaaS platforms 

● Exposure to security/compliance frameworks like SOC 2 or PCI 

● Experience working in teams that own their infrastructure and participate in on-call 

● Familiarity with SIP, VoIP systems, or real-time communication infrastructure
