Job description

PLC Programmer

We are seeking an experienced PLC Programmer with strong Stellantis manufacturing knowledge and a background supporting automotive automation systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and supporting PLC-controlled equipment in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, troubleshoot, and support PLC programs for automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Work with Stellantis standards, plant requirements, and automotive production processes.
  • Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs, ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and related automation platforms as applicable.
  • Support HMI development, edits, diagnostics, and operator interface improvements.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, controls, robotics, sensors, drives, safety circuits, and automated equipment issues.
  • Assist with machine commissioning, startup, debug, validation, and production support.
  • Work with maintenance, engineering, production, and OEM teams to resolve downtime and improve equipment performance.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, controls drawings, I/O maps, ladder logic, and machine documentation.
  • Support robotic automation, conveyors, assembly systems, material handling equipment, and production line controls.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of PLC changes, backups, troubleshooting notes, and controls updates.
  • Ensure all programming and controls work follows safety, quality, and production standards.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a PLC Programmer, Controls Engineer, Automation Technician, or similar role.
  • Strong background with Stellantis, Chrysler, automotive manufacturing, or OEM plant environments.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting, ladder logic, I/O diagnostics, and controls system support.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, and industrial control systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of HMI systems, industrial networks, VFDs, sensors, safety devices, and automation hardware.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production equipment in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting machine startup, launch, commissioning, or plant production operations.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical prints, schematics, panel layouts, and controls documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with maintenance, engineering, operations, and vendor teams.
  • Willingness to work in a plant environment and support production needs as required.
