Job description

The CMM Programmer will develop CMM production programs for new and existing products using Calypso, PC DMIS or other software. Will conduct and document first article inspections and capability analysis to support our PPAP programs. Support quality improvement efforts, Internal Auditing and Continuous Improvement initiatives. Participate in project kick-off teams improving quality aspects of product introduction, and have a fundamental understanding of quality systems, SPC, and control plans.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

(but not limited to...)

  • Laboratory Management: Maintain calibrated equipment in accordance with acceptable industry standards (ANSI/ASME).
  • Perform calibration process.
  • Keep accurate, clear, and concise records and reports.
  • Write programs from Customer Prints and Models that allow for completing quality checks on CMM equipment for given part numbers.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in programming all software. (PC-DMIS, Zeiss, Renishaw)
  • Design and procures fixtures needed to hold products for inspection during product development; sets criteria for instruments and specifications.
  • Trouble-shoot programs as necessary to ensure accuracy of part testing.
  • Conduct Capability Studies on new products as part of the PPAP process. This duty is performed as needed.
  • Take critical measurements using gauges, fixtures and other measurement tools.
  • Be able to analyze problems, make decisions, and take necessary actions to get the job done.
  • Interpret inspection results.
  • Maintain a clean work area ensuring strict adherence to the 5S Standards.
  • Maintain safe and accurate equipment operations. Use tools correctly and efficiently insuring quality workmanship.
  • Be familiar with Quality Management System requirements and follow procedures as applicable.
  • Assist with training and mentoring of junior team members in inspection and programming techniques with a focus on knowledge-sharing and team development.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ability to ballon a drawing per customer/ internal requirements in a timely fashion.

  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) knowledge is essential
  • Knowledge of PC-DMIS software for measurement analysis is essential.
  • Knowledge of Zeiss Calypso software for measurement analysis is a plus.
  • Experience with ballooning software such Data Page software is a plus.
  • Experience with Comparator Checks or Faro Arm Checks for precision inspections and dimensional analysis is a plus.
  • Be adaptable to change in equipment, assignments, procedures, methods, and willing to take additional training as necessary.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Excel and Word
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software is preferred.
