Job Title
CMM Programmer
Responsible for programming of coordinate measuring machine, Smartscope and other precision measuring equipment for the inspection of technical ceramic products. Determines conformance of components, materials and products to customer specifications utilizing a variety of mechanical, optical, and measurement equipment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Under minimal supervision, creates, develops and modifies programs for measurement equipment such as CMM (coordinate measuring machine), Smartscope and other precision measuring equipment
  • Utlizes a variety of mechanical, optical, and precision measurement equipment to determine conformance of components, materials and products to customer specifications
  • Designs and develops appropriate CMM fixtures to expedite part setup, incuding multiple part setup
  • Uses Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing knowledge to translate customer requirements into precision measurement equipment programs
  • Troubleshoots and debugs current precision measurement equipment programs to facilitate accurate part measurement
  • Asseses employees who utilize precision measurement equipment to create and present training through PowerPoint presentations and hands-on mentoring in order to develop skill levels
  • Works with customers to facilitate Gauge R & R activity, measurement correlations, and RCCA activity related to precision measurement equipment
  • May provide input for the purchase of additional precision measurement equipment
  • May lead or participate on teams for process improvements
  • Assists and/or performs in any and all areas as assigned.
  • May work any and all shifts/days as required.

Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associates degree preferred
  • ASQ Certification preferred

Experience:
  • 5 years' demonstrated experience programming measurement or related machines to tight tolerances

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) required
  • Advanced knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry required
  • Strong Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must exhibit strong interpersonal and organizational skills, great attention to detail as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds
