Job Title: CNC Programmer

FLSA Status: nonexempt

Job Summary:

CNC programmer provides programming and machining expertise in support of the Engineering Department and client requests. CNC mills and lathe, programmer. This Position is responsible for programming CNC machines and producing machined parts and components while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop efficient and effective CNC programs using CNC programming software (Experience with Esprit, Solid Works and CAMWorks preferred) based on engineering drawings and models
  • Configure tools and ensure efficient production
  • Analyze drawings, blueprints, and design data to calculate the correct part dimension for machines, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates
  • Communicate recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality
  • Review all ECOs as final approval and correction of prints and process structures
  • Review quotes and prints with applications engineers
  • Work directly with Manufacturing engineering both designing and updating manufacturing processes
  • Support all manufacturing supervisors with questions on tooling and processes they may have
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED required; professional certification/education preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience with CNC programming and operating CNC machines
  • Must have a proficient understanding of G-code and M-code programming
  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting CNC lathes and Mills a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Good working knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, basic math, and measuring instruments
  • Good understanding of machining practices including speeds and feeds
  • Must be able to read blueprints, and specification drawings; read and interpret other written work instructions
  • Must be able to use micrometers, calipers, and other measuring devices

Work Environment

This position operates in both office and manufacturing floor environments. Exposure to noise, machinery, temperature variation, and industrial conditions may occur when accessing plant areas.
