Job Summary
The CNC Machinist / Programmer is responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts and components according to engineering drawings and 3D models. This role heavily emphasizes creating, verifying, and optimizing CAM toolpaths-specifically using Autodesk Fusion 360-as well as hands-on setup and machining to maintain high quality and efficiency standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Program CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis machinery using Autodesk Fusion 360 and G-code for custom and complex industrial components.
  • Set up, prove out, and operate CNC machines safely and efficiently.
  • Accurately interpret 3D CAD models, blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
  • Select, install, and optimize appropriate tooling, workholding, custom fixtures, feeds, and speeds.
  • Monitor machine performance, simulate CAM toolpaths to prevent crashes, and edit G-code at the controller as needed.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.).
  • Maintain strict dimensional accuracy and quality standards throughout production runs.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (Technical certification or Associate degree in Machining/Manufacturing preferred).
  • 3+ years of CNC machining and programming experience in a production or job shop environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in CAM programming using Autodesk Fusion 360 or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge of G-code/M-code programming, machining processes, tooling selection, and material properties.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments, quality control inspection, and blueprint/GD&T reading.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced experience with multi-axis (4-axis / 5-axis) CNC milling and live-tooling lathes in Fusion 360.
  • Experience editing post-processors or configuring custom tool libraries within Fusion 360.
  • Practical background in design for manufacturability (DFM) using CAD/CAM software.
