Controls Programmer/Engineer - Atlanta, GA - Building Automation & HVAC ServicesAbout the Opportunity

A well-established commercial Building Automation and HVAC services provider is seeking an experienced Controls Programmer/Engineer to support expanding project demand across the Atlanta metro area. This is a field-based role deployed directly to customer sites and offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a company vehicle. Candidates must hold a Niagara N4 certification to be considered.

Position Details
  • Title: Controls Programmer/Engineer
  • Location: Atlanta, GA (Buford office as home base)
  • Salary: $90,000 - $125,000 DOE
  • Bonus: None
  • Relocation: Up to $5,000 with receipts
  • Travel: Primarily within the Greater Atlanta Metro area
  • Certification: Niagara N4 required
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, program, and modify BAS control sequences-both custom and library-based.
  • Perform functional testing, point-to-point checkout, and system verification.
  • Troubleshoot programming, communication, and controller-level hardware issues.
  • Integrate BAS systems with third-party equipment using BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
  • Design BAS system architecture including control panels, network layouts, and controller mapping.
  • Write and refine sequences of operation while selecting appropriate BAS components.
  • Work closely with field technicians, project managers, and mechanical contractors for smooth project execution.
  • Provide on-site technical support throughout installation and commissioning phases.
  • Diagnose advanced HVAC equipment issues (chillers, boilers, AHUs, VAVs, RTUs, etc.).
Ideal Candidate
  • Background as a Controls Programmer, Controls Engineer, or similar BAS-focused position.
  • Hands-on Niagara N4 programming proficiency (required).
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems, controls logic, and building operations.
  • Experienced in troubleshooting and integrating BAS platforms and communication protocols.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently in field environments.
