Overview
We are seeking a Project Engineering Manager, Power to join our team in Bothell, WA. We will also consider candidates in other US locations near an AtkinsRealis office.
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineering Manager - Power to lead multi-discipline engineering teams on complex power projects, with a strong emphasis on simple cycle and combined cycle power generation. This role is ideal for an engineering leader with deep technical understanding of power plant systems, proven project execution experience, and the ability to drive schedule, quality, and budget performance across cross-functional engineering teams.
As a Project Engineering Manager, you will provide technical leadership, oversight, and coordination across engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality project outcomes. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers, Engineering Discipline Leads, and technical staff to ensure alignment with project requirements and execution strategy.
Your role
Project & Technical Leadership:
  • Lead and supervise multi-discipline engineering teams, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop project work plans, engineering execution plans, and discipline-level scope definitions.
  • Coordinate engineering interfaces across mechanical, piping, electrical, civil/structural, I&C, and other technical groups.
  • Support problem resolution for complex engineering challenges, especially within simple cycle and combined cycle power plant systems, including gas turbines, HRSGs, steam cycles, balance of plant systems, and auxiliary systems.

Project Controls & Execution:
  • Work with Project Management and project controls staff to develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Support a robust change-management program, ensuring scope, hours, and cost impacts are accurately identified and communicated.
  • Monitor engineering progress, productivity, quality control, and document control; implement corrective actions or recovery plans when required.
  • Review project reports, schedules, and cost performance data to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.

Client, Stakeholder & Subconsultant Coordination:
  • Support the Project Manager during client meetings and technical presentations.
  • May participate in contract negotiations focusing on technical delivery requirements.
  • Monitor and coordinate subconsultants' performance, technical deliverables, and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Facilitate project meetings with clients, permitting agencies, and other external stakeholders.

Business Development Support:
  • Contribute to proposal efforts, including development of scope, labor estimates, assumptions, and written technical content.
  • Assist in identifying new business opportunities and promote the firm's technical capabilities to existing and prospective clients.
  • Participate in opportunity evaluation, consultant selection, and preparation of qualifications/experience packages.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project, team, or business needs.

About you
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 12 years of engineering experience, including at least two years in a senior technical or leadership role.
  • Significant experience in power plant design, execution, or operations is strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing and reviewing calculations, P&IDs, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Background in industrial facilities or other energy generation systems is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-discipline engineering teams and coordinate complex technical work.
  • Strong understanding of power plant thermodynamics, heat-transfer systems, fluid dynamics, and equipment selection.
  • Familiarity with EPC delivery models, engineering design processes, and industry standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to represent the firm to clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
