Job description

Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Manufacturing Engineering Manager in Sedro-Woolley, WA!
Sedron is a leading provider of circular waste management technologies for agricultural manure and municipal biosolids processing, deploying facilities across several North American regions. Since its founding in 2014, Sedron has pioneered innovative solutions, including the patented Varcorยฎ system, to transform waste into clean water, organic fertilizer, and carbon-negative commodities. With strong engineering expertise, Sedron's processes reduce nutrient pollution, lower operational expenses, and promote sustainability at a fraction of traditional costs.
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager reports to the VP of Manufacturing and leads engineering support for Sedron's welded fabrication and manufacturing operations. This role carries accountability for welding code compliance, manufacturing process improvement, quality systems, and the development of a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Certified Welding Inspectors.
The Manager drives continuous improvement across fabrication and assembly processes, reducing defects, scrap, and cycle time while ensuring all processes consistently meet customer, safety, and regulatory requirements. This position plays a central role in new product introduction, capital equipment decisions, and building a culture of technical excellence and standardized work.
Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:
  • Lead and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs) in support of welded fabrication, assembly, and production operations.
  • Drive compliance with applicable AWS welding codes, standards, and customer specifications across manufacturing processes and documentation.
  • Oversee development, qualification, and implementation of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs), Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs), and welder/operator qualifications.
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, quality, design engineering, and supply chain to improve manufacturability, throughput, and on-time delivery.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, cycle time, and welding defects.
  • Provide technical leadership in resolving complex welding and fabrication issues, including fit-up, distortion, weld quality, and process variation.
  • Support new product introduction by reviewing designs for weldability, manufacturability, tooling needs, and code compliance.
  • Manage tooling, fixturing, capital equipment, and automation projects to improve process repeatability and production efficiency.
  • Establish, track, and report key manufacturing metrics such as first-pass yield, labor efficiency, defect rates, and capacity performance.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes support required inspection methods, including visual inspection, dimensional verification, and NDT requirements where applicable.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to production, quality, and welding process issues.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, technical excellence, and standardized work throughout the manufacturing organization.
  • Directly supervises Manufacturing Engineers and Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs); scope includes Quality team support.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of direct reports.
  • Provides work direction, sets priorities, and evaluates team performance against operational and quality goals.
  • May participate in compensation recommendations and disciplinary actions.

This position allows for growth and career progression to be determined by performance, certifications, and supervisor discretion.
BENEFITS
  • Multiple medical, dental, and vision insurance options to keep you feeling your best
  • 401(k) with employer matching
  • Generous paid time off and paid holidays (plus 2 floating holidays to use your way)
  • Disability, Life, and AD&D Insurance
  • FSA and HSA options with employer contributions
  • Tuition reimbursement - we invest in your growth
  • Casual work attire - no suits required (unless that's your thing)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a welded fabrication or metal manufacturing environment; plus 3+ years of leadership or management experience overseeing engineering or technical teams
  • Strong knowledge of AWS welding codes and their application in a production environment; experience with WPSs, PQRs, and welder certifications; proficiency with root cause analysis, corrective action methodologies, and lean manufacturing principles
  • Deep working knowledge of welding codes (AWS D1.1, D1.3, or equivalent) and their practical application on the shop floor
  • Ability to lead technical teams through ambiguous manufacturing challenges and drive durable solutions
  • Skilled in translating design requirements into manufacturable processes, tooling, and inspection criteria
  • Proficiency in manufacturing metrics, capacity analysis, and continuous improvement tools (PDCA, A3, 5-Why, FMEA)
  • Strong interpersonal and coaching skills; able to develop engineers and build team capability over time
  • Comfortable working directly in the production environment alongside fabricators, welders, and operators
  • Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have effective verbal, reading, and written communication skills in the English language
