Job description

Coordinates and directs projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities. Analyzes technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.

Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures. Plans and directs the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of operational equipment. Directs, reviews, and approves product design and changes. Recruits employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence. Assists with preparing budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the negotiation of operational equipment contracts. Develops and implements policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department. Performs administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services. Reviews and recommends or approves contracts and cost estimates. Presents and explains proposals, reports, and findings to clients. Consults or negotiates with clients to prepare project specifications. Sets scientific and technical goals within broad outlines provided by top management. Administers engineering department policies. Coordination and checking of engineering deliverables. Monthly project status reports and change orders. Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the technical and management aspects of projects. Accountable for the successful completion of engineering projects. Requires extensive regular contact with assigned project internal and external clients. Oversight in the preparation of engineering project proposals and quotes. Oversight in client meetings and resolving client/engineering and management project issues. Reviews and approves project client invoices. Ensures effective engineering and client communications. Reviews and approve design information where involved including known engineering discipline. Other duties as assigned.
