Job description

HiFyve is hiring a CNC Programmer in the manufacturing industry.

Salary: $60-70K/yr

Shift: 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM

Location: St. Louis, MO

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program and support production operations using machining centers.
  • Under the general supervision of the Design Engineering Manager, program and schedule machining centers for new tooling.
  • Track the progress of new tooling fabrication.
  • Identify and inform the Design Engineering Manager of machining or process issues and recommend possible solutions.
  • Participate in Design Reviews to understand critical design features and the intended end use of tooling.
  • Recommend revisions to tooling tolerances and material selections when appropriate.
  • Create CNC programs for new tooling and production components.
  • Generate required program documentation, including cover sheets, offset location drawings, and tool lists.
  • Record machining run times on Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Schedule new tooling projects across Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) based on machine availability, labor resources, tooling completion dates, heat treating, coating requirements, and production priorities.
  • Monitor project progress by tracking completed machine hours and tooling status.
  • Monitor tool life and cutter performance, continuously optimizing machining processes.
  • Recommend new or replacement cutting tools as needed to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Provide technical support and maintain clear communication with CNC Machinists.
  • Write production programs using G-code and macros while keeping programs simple and easy for cell operators to understand.
  • Select the appropriate cutting tools for each machining application.
  • Optimize machining cycle times to improve productivity.
  • Modify existing CNC programs to support engineering revisions.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve machining efficiency and reduce cycle times.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Education/Experience: Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful job performance.
  • Typical qualifications include a degree, certification, or formal training in CNC Programming and/or 2–3 years of CNC programming experience.
  • Principles and practices of machining.
  • CAD/CAM programming.
  • G-code and macro programming.
  • VMC programming.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and resources to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of tooling selection and cutter optimization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with engineering, production, other departments, and customers.
