What is a Programme Manager?

A Programme Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing multiple related projects within an organization, ensuring they align with business objectives and deliver value. They coordinate project managers, manage resources, and communicate with stakeholders to ensure successful program delivery. Unlike project managers who focus on individual projects, programme managers maintain a big-picture view, managing interdependencies and risks across projects. Their work is essential in achieving strategic goals and driving organizational change.

A Programme Manager often oversees several related projects simultaneously, which requires strong organizational and communication skills. They manage interdependencies and allocate resources while regularly coordinating with project managers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to align goals and timelines. Effective Programme Managers establish regular check-ins, use collaborative tools, and create transparent reporting structures to keep everyone informed and address issues proactively. This approach helps prevent bottlenecks and ensures that programme objectives are met efficiently.

Description

Join our team and what we'll accomplish together

The Strategic Program Manager - Mall & Events Channel is the operational and strategic leader for a high-growth indirect sales enablement program. You will drive the channel's evolution toward a 2026 target of 40K sales (+15% YoY growth) by establishing governance, vendor partnerships, and cross-functional alignment.

This high-visibility role requires a strategic operator who builds structure from ambiguity and influences without authority. You will be accountable for unlocking program potential through disciplined management, data-driven decisions, and a relentless ROI focus.

Collaborating across Sales, Finance, Channels, and Marketing, you will lead Eastern expansion, omni-channel pilots, contract negotiations, and the development of a robust ROI model to guide long-term strategy.

As a foundational hire, you won't just manage a program-you'll define excellence. If you are energized by delivering measurable outcomes and building from the ground up, this role was made for you.

What you'll do

Driving Strategic Evolution, Vendor Management, Performance Governance, and Program ROI

  • Own end-to-end program management for the Mall & Events channel, driving toward 40K total sales in 2026
  • Lead the development and implementation of a unified program scorecard with rep-level sales attribution, per-event targets, and location-tier performance benchmarks to replace manual reporting processes
  • Lead the design and implementation of vendor financial arrangements in partnership with Finance, establishing performance-linked compensation tied to TELUS ROI metrics
  • Analyze performance volatility and develop mitigation strategies to stabilize weekly RGU output and improve forecast accuracy
  • Develop a data-driven location tiering model that incorporates TELUS performance inputs to guide Mall selection, replace underperforming locations, and optimize geographic footprint
  • Lead pilot design and execution in partnership with cross-functional teams, exploring staffing and channel integration models that optimize Cost of Acquisition (COA) and labor utilization
  • Build and implement a comprehensive TELUS Event ROI and long-term decision model to replace cost-and-revenue-potential-based decision-making with a rigorous, data-backed framework for staffing, location, and investment decisions across the program
  • Establish governance structures, measurement cadences, and formal interlocks with External Partners, Channel, Marketing, and Finance to create accountability and build the collaborative infrastructure necessary for program success
  • Represent the Mall & Events program in senior leadership forums, providing clear, data-driven updates on program performance, risks, and strategic direction
Qualifications

What you bring

Leadership & Stakeholder Influence

  • Lead through influence in a matrixed environment, aligning diverse stakeholder groups - including Finance, Retail, Marketing, Channels, and external vendors - around shared program objectives
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional partners, fostering a culture of transparency in sharing risks, opportunities, and performance outcomes
  • Champion the program with confidence in executive forums, translating complex data and operational realities into clear, compelling narratives

Core Competencies

  • Demonstrate exceptional program management discipline - building structure, governance, and accountability frameworks where they don't yet exist
  • Apply strong analytical and financial acumen to develop ROI models, breakeven analyses, and performance scorecards that drive sound business decisions
  • Navigate ambiguity with confidence, creating clarity and momentum in a program undergoing strategic evolution
  • Deliver excellent communication and presentation skills, crafting clear, concise, and compelling materials for all audiences, including executive leadership
  • Demonstrate creative problem-solving and a bias for action, proactively identifying gaps and piloting solutions that deliver measurable results
  • Bring a vendor management mindset - skilled at negotiation, contract analysis, and holding external partners accountable to performance standards

Education & Qualifications

  • University degree in Business, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, or related field (MBA degree desirable)
  • 8+ years of progressive program or channel management experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry
  • Demonstrated ability to manage successful sales initiatives within cross-functional settings, collaborating effectively with marketing and channel teams
