Join our team at DEW. Our Assistant State Veteran Coordinator serves within the Employment Services (ES) division. ES programs improve the functioning of the labor market by bringing together individuals who are seeking employment and employers who are seeking workers.

The SC Works system provides jobseekers with career guidance, job referrals, assessments, and resume assistance. Free tools to assist employers include posting job openings, recruiting and screening candidates, and reviewing job market trends. South Carolina's 12 local workforce development boards administer the SC Works Centers throughout the state.

The position involves assisting the State Veterans Coordinator in monitoring, training, and technical assistance to programmatic, state office, and American Jobs Center staff. Responsibilities include overseeing and managing Jobs for Veteran State Grant (JVSG) DVOP and LVER grants, ensuring quality workforce services for veterans and eligible persons. The ideal candidate extensive knowledge of veteran employment services laws, regulations, review techniques, and effective communication skills.

They can develop and maintain relationships with employees and officials, comprehend federal and state guidelines, plan, coordinate, and evaluate staff work, and effectively communicate. Key Responsibilities Prepare and manage Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG). Monitor and improve federal performance measures of DVOP and LVER programs.

Ensure training and proficiency of DVOPs and LVERs. Develop a system to assess staff capabilities. Coordinate with other service providers to help veterans overcome employment barriers.
