AMCA International Inc. (Air Movement and Control Association) is a global non-profit organization dedicated to testing, certifying, and verifying air movement and control products. Since 1917, AMCA has supported manufacturers with independent, third-party laboratories that perform rigorous performance and durability testing under extreme conditions. AMCA also serves as a unified advocacy voice, influencing fair codes and regulations, and fosters a connected community of more than 400 manufacturers sharing data and best practices.

This is a hybrid position, reporting to the office 3 days per week.

Job Function
Administers and is responsible for the performance of the business’s certification and compliance filing programs. Provides detailed directions to program participants; coordinating activities with other departments; initiating and executing improvements to existing processes; and developing new processes as needed. Leads and communicates with authority to global participants, partners, staff, senior leadership, and board of directors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages certification and compliance filing programs in a manner that continually strives to reduce the entry barrier into the programs by developing and maintaining training tools, aids, and processes.
  • Leads global certification and compliance programs through:
    • Active administration and oversight of each program
    • Ownership of reviews and updates to relevant program publications and standards
    • Ensuring online information about the product certification directory, compliance information and other programs is accurate and up to date.
    • Enforcement of provisions as described in the programs.
    • Impartial and consistent interpretation of the provisions of the programs.
  • Provides effective leadership and management of department staff including hiring, onboarding, training, performance reviews, coaching/mentoring. Fosters a positive team environment and supports ongoing team development.
  • Works closely with global partners on expansion of these programs and services via MOUs or other business agreements.
  • Administers and enforces ancillary conformity-assessment programs.
  • Maintains accreditation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17065, Conformity Assessment—Requirements for Bodies Certifying Products, Processes and Services.
  • Develops business plans for and manages the administration of compliance filing programs for members.
  • Provides input and oversight of global certification MOUs or other global agreements which align with certification or accreditation programs.
  • Maintains recognition as an Energy Star certification body.
  • Works closely with senior leadership and periodically prepares reports on the status of certification and compliance filing programs, including maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Promotes certification program and leads business development by participating in industry meetings and trade shows, including making in-person and webinar presentations to existing and potential members.
  • Participate in industry meetings and committees to obtain and provide program input and support
  • Works with cross-functional teams such as the laboratory, advocacy, standards, and marketing to provide program oversight and instruction.
  • Identifies and implements improvements to internal or external facing systems and processes used by these programs and their participants, including the use of AI.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with minimum of 7 years or related experience and staff management.
  • Experience in a testing and certification environment desired with experience in the HVAC industry a plus.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies and build business plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple department objectives, staffing and budgets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management.
  • Experience with Quality assurance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and other programs as required, including AI.

Annual salary:

$110,000-$125,000
