Area Operations Manager - East Texas
Texas Materials is seeking an experienced and results-driven Area Operations Manager to lead asphalt plant operations across East Texas. This key leadership role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of multiple asphalt production facilities while developing high-performing teams and supporting business growth.This position offers the opportunity to influence the full value chain of the business, from asphalt production and paving operations to customer relationships and market expansion. The successful candidate will partner closely with plant personnel, construction leaders, paving crews, sales teams, and customers to deliver operational excellence and outstanding service.
What You'll Do
Lead the day-to-day operations and maintenance of multiple asphalt plants throughout East Texas.
Foster a strong safety culture where every employee goes home safely each day.
Coach, mentor, and develop plant managers and operational teams.
Drive production efficiency, equipment reliability, product quality, and customer satisfaction.
Manage maintenance programs to maximize plant uptime and performance.
Lead capital improvement initiatives and support major investment projects.
Monitor operating costs, manage budgets, and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
Oversee inventory management, procurement planning, and supply chain coordination.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
Partner with construction operations teams to align production schedules with paving activities and project needs
Provide leadership and oversight for field construction and paving crews, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
Collaborate with asphalt sales teams to support customer relationships, project planning, estimating efforts, and market growth opportunities.
Serve as a key liaison between operations, construction, and sales to ensure successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.

Proven leadership experience overseeing production operations and field construction crews.
Experience managing asphalt paving, roadway construction, or heavy civil construction projects preferred.
Strong understanding of asphalt production, plant maintenance, equipment performance, and construction operations.
Experience managing budgets, capital projects, and operational expenses.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with customers, estimators, operations teams, and sales organizations to drive business growth.
Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Strong technical and computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
