Job description

Amentum is seeking a Munitions Handler to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Munitions Handler assists with a variety of warehousing and demilitarization duties involving stock movement, inventory, and disassembly/destruction of munitions within controlled environments. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. Typical Responsibilities Include: * Performs warehousing duties involving movement of ordnance items or components into/out of storage facilities, physical inventory, storage arrangement, accessibility, inspect, loading, and packaging. * Processes may be manual, technical, and mechanically assisted within the storage, receipt, shipment, inspection, of explosive ordnance items or components. * Perform destruction and demilitarization of ammunition and explosive components. * Operate automated systems within a munitions demilitarization process. * Follow all pertinent local, state, and federal compliance documents and procedures. * Perform all work safely, with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees, in compliance with environmental regulations and permits. * Operate mobile equipment such as MHE, vehicles for transporting personnel, tools, equipment, and ammunition components. May operate computer-based programs such as the Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) and AIT scanning tools. * Accurately record and report all Munition and Munition Component accountability and discrepancies to the appropriate authority. * Remove dunnage and maintain a clean, secure, and safe work area to include keeping storage areas free of debris, common trash, and inhabited vegetation growth around explosive operations buildings and/or magazines. * Frequently: standing, walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, carrying and pulling 25lbs, pulling 50lbs, stooping, bending, crouching, squatting, kneeling reaching out, overhead, grasping, gripping, dangerous or moving machinery, power/hand tools, discriminate colors. * Must be able to obtain and maintain required training in accordance with Amentum's Master Training Plan. * Performs other duties as required or assigned. Minimum Requirements: * Must be 18 years of age or older. * 0-1 year of general work experience. * High school diploma or equivalent, required. * Must satisfactorily complete the Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working Ammunition Operations required by AMC Regulation 350-4 within 90 days of hire. * Must be willing and able to be trained to operate forklift/fork truck or material handling lifting devices. * Willing and able to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts. * Computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment. * Ability to speak publicly and communicate clearly during normal and crisis situations. * Demonstrated willingness to be a team player. * Able to wear various levels of personal protective equipment to include Safety hat, shoes, gloves, and glasses. Able to work in an environmental and safety compliant environment. * Maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement. * Must have a valid Driver's License and pass an MVR check with a clean record. * Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience operating lifting devices, hoists, and overhead cranes, preferred. * Experience working in a hazardous materials environment, preferred. * Unexploded ordnance experience, preferred. * Experience in a production or work management atmosphere, preferred. Safety: This position is designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program. As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by 29 CFR and Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26. Benefits: This position falls under the local Union and comes with; medical , vision, dental, STD and life insurance, PTO-120 hours per year, accrued at 4.62 hours per pay period, Sick leave-One (1) hour of accrual for every thirty (30) hours worked, Paid Holidays-Eleven (11) per calendar year, 401K, and an employee stock option plan.
