Position: Water Safety Instructor Salary: $16.50/hour

Who May Apply: All Sources Location: Borinquen, PR - MWR Pool

DUTIES:

Serves as a swim instructor for outdoor pool work under the direction of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Aquatics Program Manager or MWR supervisor.

Instruct students of all ages in individual or small group (up to 4 participants) swim lessons in accordance to TRACEN Aquatic Center lesson guidelines. Build positive relationships with students and assess individual needs. Create daily swim lesson plans that allow student to progress their ability to swim during an 8 lesson period. Observes swimmers and ensures all participants are always accounted for. Ensures all water safety rules are observed by swimmers, utilizing a good knowledge of all aspects of water safety.

Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Assists in maintaining pool and keeping all areas clean and free from any hazards.

Participates as part of the Aquatic Facility Safety Team. Provides assistance during emergency situations including but not limited to: evacuating the pool, calling 9-1-1, providing CPR, or providing first aid.

Position focus ARC swim lessons during the yeat.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Minimum:

Must possess, or obtain within 90 days of hire, and maintain the following certifications

a CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent (i.e. Star or Ellis),

b First Aid, and

c CPR

2. Must be able to communicate in English (both verbally and in writing).

3. Persons must be at least 16 years of age.


Preferred (in addition to the minimum):

1. Work experience related to the duties described above.
