Job description

Technique is looking for a Production Manager to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. The Production Manager oversees daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This role is responsible for managing production teams, meeting production goals, coordinating resources, and driving continuous improvement across all production processes. The Production Manager collaborates closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth workflow and on-time delivery.
The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of manufacturing experience including leadership or supervisory roles, preferably in a fast-paced production environment. Strong leadership and team-building skills, knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies, and proficiency with ERP/MRP production planning systems are critical factors in this role.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop production teams – Lead, manage, and develop production supervisors and production staff.
  • Plan and coordinate production – Plan, schedule, and coordinate production activities to meet customer demands.
  • Ensure efficient production lines – Ensure production lines operate efficiently while minimizing downtime and waste.
  • Promote a culture of safety – Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Conduct safety audits – Conduct regular safety audits, root-cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper work procedures – Ensure all employees follow proper work procedures and training requirements.
  • Partner with Quality – Partner with the Quality department to ensure products meet specifications and standards.
  • Implement quality corrective actions – Implement corrective actions to address quality deviations.
  • Monitor quality metrics – Monitor scrap, rework, and first-pass yield metrics.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives – Lead Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and process-improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze production data – Analyze production data to identify opportunities to improve throughput and reduce costs.
  • Drive best practices and SOPs – Drive adoption of best practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Coach and mentor team members – Coach and mentor team members and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Support hiring and training – Support hiring, onboarding, and training of production employees.
  • Foster positive employee relations – Foster positive employee relations and maintain high team morale.
  • Monitor KPIs – Monitor KPIs such as productivity, labor efficiency, downtime, and delivery performance.
  • Prepare performance reports – Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain – Collaborate with Supply Chain to maintain adequate staffing, materials, and equipment.
  • Work with Maintenance – Work with Maintenance to ensure proactive maintenance and minimize downtime.
  • Recommend equipment upgrades – Recommend and assist with equipment upgrades or replacements.
  • Ensure resource allocation – Ensure proper resource allocation across shifts.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience, including leadership or supervisory roles
  • Experience in fast-paced production environments strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Proficient with production planning systems (ERP/MRP)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures
  • Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds
  • May require off-shift support and occasional weekend availability
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
