Job description

SUMMARY

The Manager, Data Governance & Analytics is at the hub of advanced analytics projects to manage business case planning, governance coordination, analytics tool rationalization, vendor administration, budgets, and organizational administration. This person also develops and nurtures cross-functional relationships to ensure alignment and operationalization of advanced analytics across the enterprise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESΒ include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages the enterprise Data Governance and Analytics Center of Excellence teams and provide staff members with leadership, coaching, and professional development.

  • Oversees the company's data governance initiatives, including Data Quality Initiative, Data Stewardship Program, Data Acquisition and Release Policy and Data Privacy.

  • Creates and maintains an enterprise data and analytics strategy and maturity model.

  • Coordinates yearly functional planning and goal setting with team leaders, including budgeting, staffing, training etc.Β 

  • This role utilizes project management skills to collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, data governors and analytics stakeholders.

  • Collaborates with internal data and information technology governance functions by leveraging advanced analytics to support the enterprise portfolio.Β 

  • Create executive level presentations to inform leadership on analytics governance activities and business case progress. Coordinate sources of truth, definitions, and algorithms across the enterprise to align business operations.

  • Partners with cross-functional teams to develop analytic strategies, tools, and standard processes throughout the enterprise with a goal to optimize business objectives, allocate resources effectively, and ensure on-time deliverables.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEΒ 

Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree

  • Bachelor's degree in insurance, mathematics, business administration, or related field required. Masters degree, preferred. Combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Continuous learning, as defined by AF Group's learning philosophy, is required.
  • Seven years data, analytic or similar work experience required which provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities. Three years supervisory, lead experience on projects, or portfolio management required.

  • General understanding of P&C insurance is required. In-depth knowledge of workers compensation preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises a varied number of employees in the designated department(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

"Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $121,500 and $203,400."
