The Sr. Manager of Data Analytics & Reporting serves as the reporting product owner and subject-matter expert for EDPlan, partnering with service line leaders, technical teams, and clients to define requirements and deliver trusted, high-quality reporting and analytics solutions. This role leads the strategy, governance, and continuous improvement of EDPlan’s reporting portfolio—rationalizing inventory, establishing standards and documentation, and prioritizing enhancements that improve usability, data quality, and client outcomes. The position is remote with up to 10–20% travel and is expected to lead cross-functional initiatives, mentor and influence teams, and drive roadmap execution in alignment with organizational goals.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works with PCG service line leads, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to inform and document data engineering and analytics requirements related to reporting functionality, solution design, and data engineering decisions;

  • Applies a consultative mindset to understanding client needs and contractual requirements, identifying root causes of data and technical issues, and delivering effective solutions to addressing those opportunities;

  • Owns EDPlan reporting as a product, including accountability for report quality, consistency, usability, and ongoing evolution in alignment with leadership’s strategic vision;

  • Reviews and rationalizes the existing EDPlan report inventory to identify gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for improvement; documents what is working and what is not;

  • Defines, maintains, and governs a core set of EDPlan reports, ensuring they remain accurate, trusted, and aligned to client and internal needs;

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for all EDPlan reporting questions, issues, enhancements, and prioritization decisions;

  • Designs, builds, and tests reports and dashboards for PCG applications and programs to facilitate the availability and usefulness of education data for state and local education agency clients;

  • Drives and maintains roadmaps for innovation, new data solutions, and data services that continuously improve and enhance data quality, client satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness;

  • Maintains a comprehensive EDPlan reporting inventory, including documentation of report purpose, data sources, business rules, known limitations, and intended audiences;

  • Tracks and reports progress to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks/deliverables.

  • Pursues ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in data engineering, business intelligence, and data analytics;

  • Acts as the authoritative reporting expert for EDPlan, providing guidance, triage, and recommendations to internal teams, service line leadership, and clients regarding reporting capabilities, limitations, and enhancement options;

  • Mentors data analysts, data scientists across matrixed regional and service line teams in efforts to continuously improve solutions and processes;

  • Actively participates in relevant practice area and firm-wide initiatives, as assigned;

  • Supports aspects of the business cycle, including system demonstrations, proposals, and implementations, as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in multiple competency areas of data and analytics delivery, ideally in the education context

  • Experience with data analytics using the latest BI frameworks and appropriate data mining, machine learning and/or artificial intelligence techniques.

  • The ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options.

  • The ability to translate among the languages used by executive, operational, IT and analytic stakeholders.

  • Exhibits a consultative mindset in all interactions with clients and peers, seeking to understand client and company needs, the root cause of issues and/or challenges, and the persistence and grit to drive complex data solutions to completion.

  • Experience in strategic technology planning and execution, and policy development and maintenance.

  • Analytical skills – Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proven ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, build teams and consensus, get things done through others not directly under his/her supervision.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain concepts and technologies to non-technical audiences, and business concepts to technologists.

  • Demonstrated ability to own and operationalize a reporting or analytics domain, including governance, prioritization, stakeholder alignment, and long‑term sustainability.

Qualifications

Education

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, information science or related field, and equivalent work experience.

Experience

Ten or more years of experience designing, developing, and supporting data analytics and reporting in a relevant context.

Experience with data within the Education industry is highly desirable, including – familiarity and working knowledge of Common Education Data Standards (CEDS) and various interoperability standards (e.g., Ed-Fi, SIF, 1Edtech, etc.).

Working Conditions

  • This is a remote position that will require occasional travel (10-20%) to client sites, conferences, PCG meetings/events.

  • It is preferred that the candidate work Eastern or Central Time zone hours.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will begin as an individual contributor and is not initially expected to directly supervise staff; however, it may evolve into a supervisory role over time. In the interim, this individual will lead projects, mentor staff members, and be expected to foster and influence a culture of teamwork, creativity, and collaboration as a leader.

Compensation:

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, PCG provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.

Salary range $125,000-155,000
