Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) – School-Based Responsibilities

  • Assist the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with treatment planning, speech therapy preparation, and implementation of student communication goals.
  • Document client performance and progress during therapy sessions.
  • Prepare therapy materials and equipment for upcoming sessions.
  • Assist in the assessment of speech and language disorders.
  • Provide feedback to clients and caregivers regarding progress.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of client sessions.
  • Support the SLP in screenings and evaluations.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support student communication goals.
  • Maintain therapy schedules, service logs, and documentation in accordance with district and state guidelines.
  • Assist with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) implementation when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and Disorders or another qualifying program
  • Active Oregon (OR) Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) License through the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
  • School-based experience as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) is preferred.
