The Position:
We are looking for a Project Controls Manager with a wide variety of abilities to complement our experienced workforce. The Project Controls Manager should implement and maintain the Project Plan set forth by the project contract documents and as directed by the Site Manager. This position will manage direct reports and support the Site Manager or Project Manager in accordance to the project execution strategy. This position is required to travel from various jobsites within the Mission Critical Division. Applicants should have the ability to:
  • Manage, support, train and evaluate Project Coordinator subordinates and making recommendations to the Site Manager/Project Manager.
  • Maintain proper communication and documentation between the office and field.
  • Understand the requirements of project documentation to adhere to contract requirements and protect ISC from exposure
  • Understand all cost components in the contract and the ability to monitor actual costs to ensure maximum return on cost.
  • Establish and maintain documentation tracking and reporting procedures on projects.
  • Establish and maintain file systems and document controls distribution as required
  • Assist with the preparation and negotiation of change orders, overhead extensions, claims, disputes, etc., and know the effect on project costs, schedule, job impact, etc. prior to submittal.
  • Create, update, and monitor cost, productivity, and schedule programs with the assistance of the Site Manager/Project Manager.
  • Requisition material and review purchase orders in accordance with the bid documents and approved vendors.
  • Establish cost plus/lump sum billing procedures in accordance with the contract specifications.
  • Prepare committed cost reports and assist with monthly projections on projects and review with Site Manager/Project Manager.
  • Participate in solving problems with Accounting and Client on invoicing when necessary.
  • Manage the material release schedule and delivery with Purchasing Agent and Site Manager/Project Manager.
  • Maintain client relations through communication and personal interaction.
  • Make regularly scheduled field walks to verify accuracy of reported information.
  • Estimate labor, price materials, and prepare change orders.
  • Review contracts, bid, and construction documents and obtain a full understanding including the ability to manage and communicate those requirements accordingly.
  • Confer with Site Manager/Project Manager regarding problems between Projects
  • Controls and Supervision and offer solution and/or involve the proper authority.

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Construction Management or a related technical degree.
  • Approximately six (6) months to one (1) year hands-on field experience in the industrial electrical and instrumentation industry.
  • Approximately five (5) years' experience in electrical and instrumentation project controls. Up to six (6) months credit may be applied for participating in the ISC construction intern program.
  • Integrity in dealings with other associates and clients.
  • Ability to work with other personalities in the department and company.
  • Proficient ability to read drawings and interpret specifications and contract language.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and technical translation.
  • Strong knowledge of Primavera, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Vista.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of all departmental procedures and how they interrelate.
  • Strong ability to self-manage especially in the areas of planning, organizing, delegating and decision making.
  • Strong mindset especially in the areas of being a team player, dependable, attendance, willingness to work overtime, presentable dress and appearance, willingness to listen and learn, attention to detail, can-do attitude, sense of urgency and energy.

Prerequisites:
  • Previous data center experience a plus
  • Ability to pass a post-offer, pre-employment, drug/alcohol test and applicable background checks.
  • High ethical standards - unwilling to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Valid driver's license and have the ability to travel to various sites.
