As a life science company and a leading supplier to global research markets, we offer a comprehensive product portfolio along with outstanding hands-on customer service to ensure every laboratory has the tools and support they need. Our markets include pharmaceutical and biotechnology businesses, research institutions, hospitals, reference labs, and more.

Be part of making a difference

At Genesee, we believe we can help improve our communities and transform the world through science. Our shared desire to make a difference is what drives and inspires us. We are a fast-growing, dynamic team that listens to each other and embraces collaboration. We foster an open, friendly work environment and show up for one another every day.

Role: Program Director, Strategic   Growth & Commercial Integration

Reports to: CEO

FLSA: Exempt

Location: San Diego, CA

Why this role is important at Genesee Scientific?

We are seeking an experienced Program Director to lead Genesee's internal execution of a high-priority strategic program. The initiative will materially expand Genesee's portfolio and spans commercial launch, private-label conversion, pricing, inventory, product data and systems readiness, customer service, marketing, sales enablement, and channel growth.

Reporting to the CEO and fully dedicated to this initiative, the Program Director will own Genesee's integrated plan and value-realization cadence, coordinate internal workstream leaders, identify resource needs, resolve obstacles, and maintain launch readiness. This person will serve as Genesee's primary interface with the external strategic partner's program management team, aligning dependencies, inputs, decisions, and joint working sessions while the partner leads its own workstreams and joint-session logistics. This is a hands-on operating role requiring sound business judgment and direct engagement in execution details.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership and Internal Coordination

  • Own Genesee's integrated program plan across internal workstreams, including milestones, critical path, dependencies, decision rights, launch-readiness gates, and accountable owners
  • Coordinate Genesee workstream leaders across Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Sales Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Operations, Finance, IT, Customer Service, and other functions
  • Establish program governance, meeting cadences, decision forums, risk reviews, and concise executive reporting; maintain an integrated risk, issue, action, and decision log
  • Identify the capacity, skills, hiring, and external support required for execution; recommend resource allocations and escalate gaps that could constrain results

Execution & Value Realization

  • Drive Genesee's readiness for the branded-product launch and private-label conversion across product onboarding, pricing, contracts, rebates, product data, systems, inventory, warehouse capacity, sales enablement, marketing, and customer communications
  • Coordinate customer and channel-growth initiatives with Sales and Marketing, including target-account prioritization, pipeline visibility, launch sequencing, customer-retention messaging, and barrier removal
  • Own the program's financial scorecard and maintain visibility into revenue, gross margin, cost savings, customer retention, working capital, implementation costs, and agreed value-creation milestones
  • Work with functional leaders to resolve execution problems, recommend decisions, and adjust plans as commercial results, customer feedback, or operating conditions change

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Serve as Genesee's primary program interface with the external strategic partner's program manager, aligning timelines, dependencies, required inputs, decisions, and Genesee readiness for joint sessions
  • Coordinate Genesee's participation in joint working sessions while the external partner manages session logistics and leads its own functional workstreams
  • Facilitate productive internal meetings and executive steering updates with clear decisions, actions, owners, deadlines, financial implications, and recovery plans
  • Influence executives and workstream leaders without relying on direct authority, maintaining accountability for commitments and outcomes

Measures of Success

  • Genesee achieves launch readiness and key milestones on schedule with controlled execution risk
  • Existing customer revenue, product availability, service levels, quality, and customer acceptance are protected through the conversion
  • Revenue, gross-margin, cost-savings, and working-capital objectives are tracked rigorously, and corrective actions are taken when performance deviates from plan
  • The program establishes a repeatable supplier-enablement playbook that can support future strategic manufacturer partnerships
Requirements:

Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience in life science tools, laboratory products, medical products, industrial distribution, or another complex B2B distribution environment with large SKU portfolios and related systems requirements
  • Operating, transformation-consulting, integration-management, corporate-strategy, or private-equity portfolio-operations experience, preferably in a growth-stage or lower-middle-market company with lean functional teams
  • PMP, Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or comparable training is beneficial but is not a substitute for demonstrated operating leadership. Periodic domestic travel will be required
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain focus on both project milestones and broader business objectives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with both functional teams and senior leadership
  • Comfortable working with data, financial information, operational metrics, and business performance indicators.
  • Ability to develop clear executive-level project updates, dashboards, and presentations
  • Collaborative working style combined with a willingness to challenge assumptions, surface difficult issues, and hold teams accountable

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations, supply chain, engineering, life sciences, or a related field
  • 8+ years of progressive experience, including direct leadership of a complex, enterprise-wide commercial or operational program and the judgment to move between executive decisions and execution details
  • Demonstrated ownership of a material product launch, supplier enablement or integration, customer or product conversion, channel expansion, or comparable initiative from planning through stabilization
  • Experience managing a financial business case and using revenue, margin, savings, working-capital, customer-retention, and operating metrics to guide decisions
  • Proven ability to influence executives, functional leaders, and external partners; resolve conflicting priorities; and drive accountability without direct reporting authority
  • Experience working across Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, IT, and Customer Service in a product-oriented B2B environment
  • Up to 25% travel may be required

Physical Requirements:

Perform the following tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Primarily sedentary work performed in a climate-controlled office environment
  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods
  • Occasional standing and walking within the office area

At Genesee Scientific, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.  We offer:

  • Training and professional growth initiatives, including comprehensive onboarding programs for new team members
  • We provide financial well-being with competitive compensation packages and 401 (k) retirement savings plans
  • Health care and well-being programs including medical, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability and employee assistance programs
  • Paid time off including vacation, sick and 12 holidays

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.

Employment offers are subject to successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug test.

We do not discriminate in hiring on the basis of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, color, religious creed, national origin, physical or mental disability, protected Veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state/province, or local law.
