About the Role

The KAP Director is a visible, hands-on leader responsible for creating an engaging, safe, and community-connected afterschool experience for middle school youth. The Director leads program strategy and daily operations; develops meaningful prevention and positive youth development programming; supervises and supports staff; and builds partnerships with local, regional, and state organizations that expand opportunities for young people. The Director also assists with funding development, grant writing, performance reporting, and evaluation so the program can demonstrate impact and remain sustainable.

Develop and lead engaging, prevention-focused programming for middle school youth.

Build positive relationships with youth and create a safe, welcoming environment.

Establish and strengthen partnerships with community, regional, and state organizations.

Coordinate activities and services with schools, families, agencies, volunteers, and community partners.

Assist with identifying funding opportunities, writing grants, and preparing supporting materials.

Track program outcomes and complete accurate grant, contract, and funder reports.

Recruit, train, supervise, and support program staff and volunteers.

Manage program schedules, enrollment, attendance, supplies, records, and daily operations.

Monitor program budgets and follow purchasing and financial procedures.

Ensure compliance with RYC, school district, safety, confidentiality, and reporting requirements.

Promote the program, increase youth participation, and communicate KAP's impact to the community.

Represent KAP and RYC at community meetings, coalitions, and statewide initiatives.

Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and lead middle school youth in small and large groups.
  • Experience developing and implementing youth enrichment, prevention, education, recreation, or community-based programming.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with youth, families, schools, community partners, public agencies, and funders.
  • Experience supervising, coaching, or coordinating employees, volunteers, or project teams.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and computer skills, including data tracking, reporting, calendars, budgets, and written communication.
  • Sound judgment, patience, dependability, adaptability, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy program environment.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening; First Aid and CPR certification following hire.
  • Reliable transportation to and from program and community sites.

Shift: M-F 9:30-5:30

Annual Pay: $55,000-70,000/year DOE
