Pay Rate: $29.00 hr.
Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm
- This position will require flexibility to work afternoons/evenings, weekends and nights as needed per plant management
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Working under the direction of the Human Resources Leader, the Training and Development Coordinator (T&D) is a vital part of the plant team supporting the continued implementation of operating standards, advancing operator capability and creation and management of standard work. This position will track training progress, report on success metrics, and make recommendations for improvements. This role is responsible for coordinating, maintaining, and continuously improving the plant Training & Development system, including training documentation, tracking processes, skill gap closure, onboarding plans, training records, and follow-up with leaders and trainers to ensure completion and effectiveness. This position is not limited to delivering training; it requires ownership of the processes, systems, and accountability needed to ensure training is completed, documented, current, and aligned to plant needs. The Training and Development Coordinator will provide support and guidance in the absence of the T&D Pillar Leader.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Training Program Development and Implementation
- Coordinate and maintain plant training programs for hourly employees, ensuring training plans, documentation, completion tracking, and follow-up actions are current, consistent, and aligned with plant priorities.
- Facilitate or coordinate training sessions as needed on operations, quality, maintenance, onboarding, and other plant-related topics; primary accountability is ensuring the training process is executed, documented, and followed through to completion.
- Create training materials such as training plans, technical/operational manuals, presentations, and videos.
- Lead and support the implementation of the change management strategy for adoption of new training standards, policies, and practices.
- Own and maintain training documentation standards in partnership with key stakeholders, including standard work, training plans, sign-off expectations, revision control, and recordkeeping requirements.
- Assist in development of Train-The-Trainer program and certifications for all positions
- Work with Department Leaders to identify trainers on each shift and support the development of those trainers
- Create, revise, maintain, and monitor new hire and new position onboarding plans with clear objectives, milestones, required sign-offs, and follow-up expectations.
- Support and develop a knowledge transfer program for succession planning
- Serve as the central point of coordination for the plant training system by partnering with department leaders, trainers, and employees to monitor progress, remove barriers, and ensure training requirements are completed on time.
Gap Analysis and Closure
- Identify skill-related losses and training gaps using various modes of data gathering, such as production losses, trend analysis, and manpower gaps.
- Participate in root cause analysis evaluations to identify skill-related gaps.
- Develop, coordinate, and monitor gap closure plans that are practical for a fast-paced manufacturing environment and include clear owners, target dates, follow-up actions, and completion tracking.
- Collaborate with department leaders and trainers to drive training gap closure, escalate barriers when needed, and verify that closure actions are documented and effective.
Training Metrics and Record Keeping
- Create, own, and maintain a data-driven process to effectively track training completion, skill gaps, overdue items, and knowledge transfer progress.
- Forecast training plan closure, monitor progress against expected timelines, and provide updates to leaders on risks, gaps, and needed support.
- Gather and report on training metrics and take proactive action on data trends.
- Ensure the training recordkeeping and tracking process is current, accurate, consistent, audit-ready, and followed by leaders, trainers, and employees.
- Manage electronic and manual training tracking systems, including data entry, reporting, follow-up, document retention, and process improvements.
Collaborative and Relationship Building
- Create skill validation process utilizing key stakeholders
- Build and maintain a relationship of trust and respect with a multifunctional team.
- Effectively communicate to hourly workers up to Plant Leader level.
- Support all departments and other projects as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Minimum 2 years' work experience in manufacturing, industrial, or related environment required.
- Previous experience coordinating, managing, or owning a training program, training system, learning process, onboarding process, or skills tracking process strongly preferred.
- Ability to use training data, completion reports, skill matrices, or similar tracking tools to identify gaps, communicate status, and drive closure with plant leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong coaching/relationship building skills.
- Strong ability to manage through ambiguity.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and teach others
- Able to work independently or in a team atmosphere with minimal direct supervision
- Must possess strong communication, attention to detail and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and escalate issues in a timely manner
- Must have the ability to multi-task
- Must have strong internal and external customer service skills
- HS Diploma or GED equivalent required
- Internal candidates must be in good standards with the company and have been in their current job for a minimum of 6 months.

- Lifting/carrying/moving up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for up to 12 hours a day
