Job description

Job Title: Training and Development Coordinator   

Reports to: HR Leader

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-exempt

Work Arrangement: On Site

Pay Rate: $29.00 hr.

Shift:  Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm

  • This position will require flexibility to work afternoons/evenings, weekends and nights as needed per plant management

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Working under the direction of the Human Resources Leader, the Training and Development Coordinator (T&D) is a vital part of the plant team supporting the continued implementation of operating standards, advancing operator capability and creation and management of standard work. This position will track training progress, report on success metrics, and make recommendations for improvements. The Training and Development Coordinator will provide support and guidance in the absence of the T&D Pillar Leader.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Training Program Development and Implementation

  • Develop and implement training programs for hourly employees.
  • Conduct training sessions as necessary on operations, quality, and maintenance related topics.
  • Create training materials such as training plans, technical/operational manuals, presentations, and videos.
  • Lead and support the implementation of the change management strategy for adoption of new training standards, policies, and practices.
  • Create appropriate documentation standards utilizing support from key stakeholders
  • Assist in development of Train-The-Trainer program and certifications for all positions
  • Work with Department Leaders to identify trainers on each shift and support the development of those trainers
  • Create/revise/maintain new hire/new position onboarding plans with key objectives and milestones
  • Support and develop a knowledge transfer program for succession planning

Gap Analysis and Closure

  • Identify skill-related losses and training gaps using various modes of data gathering, such as production losses, trend analysis, and manpower gaps.
  • Participate in root cause analysis evaluations to identify skill-related gaps.
  • Assist in the development of gap closure plans that are flexible enough to be implemented in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to facilitate training gap closure.

 

Training Metrics and Record Keeping

  • Create a data driven process to effectively track training and knowledge gaps
  • Forecast training plan closure.
  • Gather and report on training metrics and take proactive action on data trends.
  • Ensure record keeping/training tracking process is current and consistent.
  • Manage electronic & manual training tracking systems.

 

Collaborative and Relationship Building

  • Create skill validation process utilizing key stakeholders
  • Build and maintain a relationship of trust and respect with a multifunctional team.
  • Effectively communicate to hourly workers up to Plant Leader level.
  • Support all departments and other projects as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Minimum 2 years work experience in manufacturing, industrial, or related environment required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong coaching/relationship building skills.
  • Strong ability to manage through ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and teach others
  • Able to work independently or in a team atmosphere with minimal direct supervision
  • Must possess strong communication, attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and escalate issues in a timely manner
  • Must have the ability to multi-task
  • Must have strong internal and external customer service skills
  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Internal candidates must be in good standards with the company and have been in their current job for a minimum of 6 months.

Essential Physical Requirements/Work Environment

This position requires:

  • Exposure to hot/cold temperatures - continuously
  • Exposure to noise - continuously
  • Lifting/carrying/moving up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for up to 12 hours a day
