Office of National Fellowships
Responsibilities
  • Fulfills the mission of the Office of National Fellowships (ONF) by managing the operational activities for select major fellowships, including the coordination of FSU faculty and staff who serve on ONF committees. Leads ONF recruitment efforts on campus and supervises the ONF intern / graduate assistant.
  • Responsible for providing support to students through mentoring and advising, giving edits and feedback for their fellowship application essays, and assisting students with the overall fellowship application process.
  • Manages administrative and operational activities for the Goldwater Scholarship, the NSF GRFP & REU programs, the Hollings Scholarship, DAAD RISE, and other STEM fellowships, and assists ONF by supporting other minor fellowships and awards. This includes leading and managing the Goldwater faculty committee, and establishing and implementing relevant ONF policies and procedures for all fellowships.
  • Coordinates and executes ONF's fall and spring workshop schedule to enhance recruitment efforts, maintain relationships with ONF/FSU alumni, educate the undergraduate population on available fellowship opportunities, and promote healthy partnerships between ONF and other FSU departments.
  • Maintains partnerships with Undergraduate Studies, offices within the Honors, Scholars & Fellows House, and other campus partners to ensure a healthy and robust pool of applicants. Administers operational activities including office, university, state, and federal policies and procedures.
  • Manages the ONF graduate assistant and/or undergraduate intern to ensure they are properly onboarded and supported. Ensures that the GA / Intern properly manages ONF's presence on digital platforms and creates engaging recruitment materials.

Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)

  • Degree related to academic and/or student services
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, supervisors, and interdepartmental personnel.
  • Ability to interpret and explain policies to students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Attention to detail and the highest standard of integrity are imperative.
  • Excellent computer, creative problem-solving, and written and communication skills are essential.
  • Must have the unique ability to deal with people calmly, confidently and with complete objectivity.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of academic program planning, development, and evaluation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Event planning experience.
