BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Full-Time | Middletown, NY
Build Relationships. Grow a Business. Make a Lasting Impact
Most insurance agencies focus on advertising and waiting for the phone to ring.
We believe there's a better way.
At James Demmer State Farm, we're building something different. We're looking for a relationship-driven professional to become the face of our agencies throughout the community by developing long-term partnerships with businesses that naturally serve people during life's biggest moments.
This isn't a traditional sales position.
This is an opportunity to build a business development program from the ground up and play a significant role in the future growth of two established, high-performing insurance agencies.
What You'll Do
Your mission is simple:
Develop genuine, long-term relationships that create value for our partners while generating a consistent stream of referral opportunities for our agencies.
You'll spend your time:
  • Meeting with real estate agents, mortgage lenders, dealerships, apartment communities, attorneys, financial advisors, and other local businesses.
  • Developing strategic referral partnerships.
  • Networking throughout the community.
  • Attending business and chamber events.
  • Creating referral and appreciation programs.
  • Identifying new partnership opportunities.
  • Maintaining regular communication with referral partners.
  • Tracking relationship activity and business results.
  • Collaborating with our sales team to ensure every referred customer receives an exceptional experience.

Who We're Looking For
This position is ideal for someone who naturally enjoys meeting people, building trust, and creating lasting professional relationships.
You may be a great fit if you've worked in:
  • Business Development
  • Account Management
  • Client Success
  • Relationship Management
  • Enterprise Rent-A-Car
  • Banking or Mortgage Lending
  • Commercial or Outside Sales
  • Real Estate
  • Healthcare or Pharmaceutical Sales
  • Community or Chamber Development

Insurance experience is helpful but not required. We can teach insurance. It's much harder to teach someone how to build authentic relationships.
What Makes Someone Successful
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • High emotional intelligence.
  • Self-motivated and organized.
  • Comfortable networking and meeting new people.
  • Professional and confident.
  • Strong follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a high-performing team.
  • Passion for creating long-term partnerships rather than making one-time sales.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive base salary.
  • Performance bonuses based on business development goals.
  • Paid time off.
  • Health benefits (if applicable).
  • Retirement plan (if applicable).
  • Ongoing professional development.
  • Mileage reimbursement or company vehicle opportunity based on performance.
  • Significant opportunity for career growth.

Why Join Us?
We're not hiring someone to maintain the status quo.
We're looking for someone who wants to help build one of the strongest referral networks in the Hudson Valley.
If you're excited by the idea of creating meaningful business relationships, helping local businesses succeed, and playing an important role in the growth of an entrepreneurial organization, we'd love to meet you.
Compensation: $70,000-$100,000+ annually, including base salary and performance incentives. Top performers who build high-value strategic partnerships have the opportunity to exceed this range.
Flexible work from home options available.
Compensation: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
My team's mission is to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected and realize their dreams. We are located in , NY and help customers with their insurance and financial services needs, including:
  • Auto insurance
  • Home insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Retirement planning
