Job description

POSITION: Structural Steel Business Development
SHIFT: M-F 8am to 5pm (Varied Hour based on Business Demands)
PAY RATE: $114K - $131K+ (DOE) + Full Benefit Package
LOCATION: Fargo, ND
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Structural Steel Business Development position will be responsible for improving TrueNorth Steel’s market position and achieving financial growth. This position builds key customer relationships with current and new customers, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Embrace and demonstrate the qualities of the TrueNorth Steel Game Changer definition.
  • Develop client base that aligns with TrueNorth Steel’s strategic vision and value add focus.
  • Lead strategic approach on project pursuits with a focus on increasing project close rate percentage.
  • Develop and present regional sales strategies that align with TrueNorth Steel’s strategic vision and value add focus.
  • Develop and present presentations on solutions and services that meet or predict clients’ needs.
  • Meet with client business development departments and decision makers to gather information on industry trends and upcoming project opportunities.
  • Report, weekly, new project opportunities and status update on in process opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain quarterly and yearly market and sales forecasts.
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Work with Director of Project Development and other leadership members to develop sales budgets.
  • Work with other TrueNorth Steel team members to coordinate client focus, assemble proposals and budget work.
  • Work with Project Development Manager and marketing to assemble points base RFQ/RFP responses.
  • Ability to work with engineers and contractors on best value solutions.
  • Work with risk group to ensure that prerequisites are fulfilled within a timely manner and new customers/clients are prequalified per TrueNorth Steel new client setup guidelines.
  • Work with purchasing and other necessary team members to on-board new vendors and subcontractors as necessary.
  • Ability to assemble high level budgets without estimating department input.
  • Ensure timely and accurate CRM data/information input as outlined in the TrueNorth Steel CRM work instructions.
  • An ability to understand how other trades interact with our products and service offerings and offer solutions that add value to our clients and reduce TrueNorth Steel’s risk.
  • Participate with all stakeholders on the successful execution of preconstruction efforts.
  • Be attentive to opportunities to provide products and services offered by other TrueNorth Steel/Rommesmo Companies entities and pass those opportunities to the appropriate people for follow up.
  • Develop subcontractor and supplier relationships that align with TrueNorth Steel’s vision and ensure strategic approaches to project opportunities.
  • Prompt and dependable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES
  • Must have general computer knowledge along with experience using Excel and Word processing programs.
  • Must be able to learn and proficiently navigate Tekla Structures.
  • Must be able to learn and navigate CRM software utilized by TrueNorth Steel.

  • General knowledge of drafting, estimating, steel products, engineering, and fabrication.
  • Extensive construction knowledge is preferred.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
