OverviewThe Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA)* is the merged organization comprising the University of Wisconsin Foundation and the Wisconsin Alumni Association, whose legal corporate name is registered as the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
The WFAA is seeking an intern to support the Wisconsin Alumni Association's (WAA) Diversity and Inclusion initiative.
This position will assist with a variety of diversity projects which include, but are not limited to, affinity group newsletter, assisting with event planning, connecting with campus partners and current students and alumni, and more. The internship offers the opportunity to network with influential alumni of color while gaining valuable programming experience.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 10-20 hours per week during the school year, with additional hours possible during breaks and over the summer. Flexibility of scheduling, working around class schedules, and academic or other obligations will be offered.
Who is WFAA?The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association is a private, nonprofit corporation that encourages individuals and organizations to make gifts to the university and to connect with the UW. In 2014, the UW Foundation merged with the Wisconsin Alumni Associationยฎ to better serve a growing population of UW alumni and donors. We believe that private support grows out of good relationships between campus leaders, faculty and program staff who need support, and the alumni and friends who want to invest in UW-Madison. We provide important engagement opportunities to link UW-Madison alumni to each other and to their alma mater, building a strong community of Badgers.

Responsibilities - Assist with communicating with alumni via email, phone, and in-person
- Assist with the WFAA event set-up, support and tear down
- Research and develop innovative ways to inform campus and community partners about WAA Alumni Note Cards
- Support and assist with planning the annual PEOPLE Alumni Connections event
- Participate on the internal WFAA Diversity Workgroup meeting (schedule permitting)
- Participate on the Multicultural Homecoming Planning Committee (spring)
- Represent WFAA at campus partner sponsored events/activities
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:- Strong writing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint
- Exceptional customer service skills
Other Qualifcations:- Demonstrated success engaging diverse constituent populations through programs, events, volunteer activities
- Understanding of critical issues, challenges and opportunities relative to diversity in higher education
- Ability to effectively collaborate with co-workers, campus and community partners, and alumni constituents to achieve shared objectives
