Department Overview:
The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.

  • This role is accepting positions on a rolling basis over the summer until the position is filled.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
  • Plans and coordinates all logistics (transportation, lodging, site-visits, meals, community building, etc.) of the week-long Wisconsin Experience Bus Trip
  • Coordinates participant recruitment, selection and orientation
  • Attends the week-long Bus Trip in May (held the week after Spring graduation)
  • Maintain consistent and timely correspondence with internal/external stakeholders
  • Implements assessment and compiles results into final report
  • Maintain on-going updates and communication with supervisor in the Center for Leadership and Involvement
  • Assist in maintaining WEBT Budget, including documentation of invoices with multiple third-party vendors
  • Serves as a CfLI ambassador at the Student Organization Fairs & other event that occur throughout the year
  • Other duties as assigned by Center for Leadership and Involvement

Qualifications:
  • A willingness to create an inclusive, welcoming, and open working environment
  • Promote diverse learning opportunities that spark exploration & develop socio-cultural awareness
  • Facilitation skills for discussion and debriefing with participants
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Google Drive, and Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) with patrons, staff, and team member
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting
  • Organized and dependable work habits and willingness to take initiative
  • Commitment to providing friendly, responsive service to our customers and other office staff

Student Status
To be eligible for the Wisconsin Union positions, you must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or highschool (at least 16). It is not permissible to hire a person as a student hourly employee if they are taking credits merely to be eligible for student hourly employment. Review UW Policy 5003- Student Hourly Employment for more information. If school is in break period (summer, spring, winter), applicants must intend to enroll in courses the following semester.
