Position Title:                   Workforce Development, Emerging Talent Intern

Hourly Rate:                    $19.00 (Undergraduate), $21.00 (Graduate)

All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.

OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:

The Workforce Development Intern will support the Senior Advisor, Special Projects & Initiatives within the Office of the President by assisting with initiatives focused on workforce planning, employee development, organizational effectiveness, and strategic projects. This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting executive-level initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, talent development, and organizational performance across New York City Transit.

The intern will conduct research, analyze workforce data, coordinate projects, and prepare materials for executive leadership while gaining hands-on experience in workforce strategy, talent development, and public sector operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with research and analysis related to workforce planning, employee development, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Support the coordination of workforce development projects by tracking milestones, monitoring deliverables, and maintaining project documentation.
  • Prepare presentations, briefing materials, meeting agendas, reports, and other materials for executive leadership.
  • Conduct research on industry best practices, workforce trends, and public sector talent development strategies.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze workforce-related data to identify trends, measure outcomes, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate meetings with internal departments and external stakeholders, including preparing meeting materials, documenting discussions, and tracking action items.
  • Develop and update communication materials that promote workforce development programs, employee learning opportunities, and organizational initiatives.
  • Maintain project trackers, databases, and supporting documentation while assisting with special projects and administrative assignments as needed.

PROJECTS:

  • Workforce Development Initiatives: Support the planning and coordination of workforce development projects by tracking milestones, maintaining project plans, and assisting with the implementation of employee development and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Workforce Research & Data Analysis: Conduct research on workforce trends and industry best practices, analyze workforce-related data, and prepare reports that support strategic workforce planning and executive decision-making.
  • Executive Project & Stakeholder Support: Assist in developing presentations, briefing materials, meeting agendas, and communications for executive leadership, while coordinating meetings and tracking action items for cross-functional workforce development initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills. 
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA AND/OR matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
  • Major(s) Preferred: Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Public Policy, Management, or related field.
