Job description

MISSION
The Development Office Coordinator will carry out their duties in keeping with the mission of Little Sisters of the Poor, caring for the aged poor with love, respect, and dignity. “Making the elderly happy, that is what counts” was a saying of the Little Sisters of the Poor foundress Saint Jeanne Jugan. Central to this philosophy is the promotion of a holistic approach for our Residents in an atmosphere of kindness and respect in creating a family spirit.
JOB STANDARDS:
The Development Office Coordinator must have:
3 TO 5 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN FUNDRAISING AND DONOR DEVELOPMENT
• Successful completion of a degree program in Journalism, English, or related field preferred.
• Must have prior experience in fundraising campaigns
• Demonstrated writing skills i.e., newsletters, mailings, desktop publishing, brochures and other correspondence.
• Basic bookkeeping and office procedure knowledge.
• Fundamental competency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong customer relationship skills.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The Development Office Coordinator will be responsible for:
  • Practicing discretion and maintaining the strictest confidence regarding all information inherent in the day to day operations of the development office.
  • Mastering and fully utilizing all computer programs available to the development office.
  • Accurately recording all donor contributions, both computerized and hard copy back up.
  • Preparing drafts of all development correspondence including acknowledgement letters.
  • Timely and accurate preparation of receipts and logs of all donations.
  • Preparing deposits including the monthly report of all funds received.
  • Preparation of quarterly donor newsletters from draft to layout and photography
  • Coordinating all aspects of mailings including computer readiness and arrangements with printer, supplies and postal permits.
  • Writing grant proposals as needed.
  • Maintaining correspondence regarding all legacies and estate matters as well as records and copies of pertinent information.
  • Serving as house photographer for all special events, publications, etc.
