The Design Manager for Hyperscale Data Center Programs will lead the coordination, integration, and execution of design efforts across a portfolio of fast-track hyperscale data center projects. This role ensures that architecture, engineering disciplines, and procurement are aligned to deliver design outputs on time, within program schedules and budgets. The Design Project Manager will collaborate closely with engineering discipline managers, external engineers of record (EORs), and the procurement team to manage design workflows, reviews, and procurement decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design efforts across Civil/Structural/Architectural (CSA), Electrical, Mechanical, and specialty systems.
  • Ensure integration between architecture, engineering disciplines, design, construction sequencing, and procurement timelines.
  • Serve as the primary coordination point between Engineering and PMO for design execution.
  • Develop and manage design schedules and milestones aligned with program timelines.
  • Track design deliverables across all disciplines and external consultants.
  • Identify and escalate design risks impacting construction start, long-lead procurement, and commissioning milestones.
  • Coordinate drawing production and multidisciplinary drawing review sessions.
  • Organize and facilitate design coordination meetings and drawing review workshops.
  • Coordinate design-related RFIs from construction teams and ensure timely responses.
  • Work closely with the procurement team to align design decisions with supplier capabilities and lead times.
  • Provide regular design status updates to the Director of Engineering and Director of Program Management.

Required Skills

  • 8-15+ years of experience in design project management, engineering coordination, or architecture/engineering project delivery.
  • Strong experience coordinating multi-discipline design teams and external EORs and consultants.
  • Solid understanding of construction workflows and procurement impacts on design.
  • Experience operating in fast-track or design-build environments.
  • Strong organizational and facilitation skills.
