Senior Vice President, Technology Modernization & Governance

Who we are looking for:

We are seeking a strategic, highly technical, and execution-oriented technology leader to drive the governance and delivery of a multi-year, enterprise-wide modernization strategy. This high-impact role will oversee multiple execution workstreams - Including application modernization , data consolidation, platform transformations, while increasing security and controls, in an AI driven market.

This is a highly visible leadership position with influence across the organization and requires the ability to translate complex technical strategies into clear business outcomes, execution roadmaps, and measurable value realization.

What you will be responsible for:

Program Governance & Executive Reporting

  • Lead the governance structure for execution workstreams aligned with the firm's technology modernization strategy.
  • Chair monthly executive meetings, providing updates on program status, risks, decisions, financials, and outcome-based metrics for a $150M investment portfolio.
  • Represent the program with internal stakeholder, executive board, regulatory, and client briefings.
  • Promote transparency and accountability through OKRs, execution metrics, and spotlight reporting.

Strategic Leadership & Delivery

  • Foster a culture of intentional collaboration across all teams contributing to the technology strategy.
  • Establish escalation channels to ensure timely resolution of program blockers.
  • Enhance technical delivery management to ensure timely, risk-aware execution of IT initiatives, inclusive of leveraging multi 3rd party teams for execution.
  • Provide thought leadership to optimize existing GTS processes.
  • Strong knowledge of application modernization technologies and processes.
  • Lead modernization efforts across hybrid cloud environments, including infrastructure patterns, migration sequencing, application dependency mapping, and platform readiness.
  • Partner with architecture, engineering, security, and operations teams to define target-state technology standards, reference architectures, and modernization guardrails.
  • Drive adoption of modern software engineering and infrastructure practices, including DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, SRE principles, and infrastructure as code.
  • Provide oversight of technical design decisions, environment strategy, release coordination, and operational readiness for critical enterprise platforms.
  • Evaluate technical tradeoffs across legacy remediation, re-platforming, re-hosting, refactoring, and SaaS adoption strategies.

Financial & Risk Governance

  • Oversee centralized financial services including demand portfolio creation, monthly reporting, resource forecasting, and vendor/consultant oversight.
  • Integrate resiliency initiatives to maximize benefits from modernization efforts.
  • Partner with 2nd and 3rd lines of defense to ensure transparency in process/control changes and associated risk impacts.
  • Strong working knowledge of IT 3rd party provided services in support of modernization initiatives

Education and Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in IT program governance, delivery, and transformation leadership.
  • Proven success managing large-scale, cross-functional technology initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of IT audit, compliance, and risk frameworks.
  • Financial acumen with experience overseeing multi-million-dollar portfolios.
  • Exceptional communication and executive stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with application and cloud migration, data modernization, and identity management is highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure, application architecture, distributed systems, and modernization patterns across on-premises and cloud platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex transformation programs involving cloud adoption, data center strategy, application rationalization, resilience, cybersecurity, and operational risk reduction.
  • Strong working knowledge of DevSecOps, software development lifecycle controls, release governance, and engineering quality practices.
  • Experience partnering with enterprise architects, infrastructure leaders, security teams, and business executives to align technical roadmaps with strategic priorities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory, audit, and control expectations within highly governed technology environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS, Azure, TOGAF, CISSP, PMP, ITIL, or equivalent are a plus.

Salary Range:

$225,000 - $337,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
