The Program Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing key areas of the University Honors Program. This position supports operational, programmatic and strategic support promoting student success, retention and recruitment. The position covers coordination and delivery of curricular learning experiences; student recruitment, applications, admissions and scholarships; marketing and communication, alumni relations and support of the Honors Program Faculty Fellows and other areas.
Position Overview
This position performs a complex mix of duties in support of project or program development and delivery.
Duties may include:
  • Coordinate office operations
  • Document and tracking program schedules and business cycles
  • Plan and coordinate program meetings and events
  • Support program planning and may assist with the development of operating budgets and/or funding proposals
  • Research and compile information for communications such as talking points, speech scripts and responses to correspondence and presentations
  • Coordinate collection of data and materials for reports and other administrative documents
  • Develop and maintain positive liaison relationships with offices, customers and stakeholders including internal and advisory boards
  • May assist with budget management and provide support for financial and/or personnel processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience
  • Three years providing administrative, business operations and/or program support
  • Composing, proofing and editing a variety of documents, using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials
  • Using computer software and applications for word processing, developing spreadsheets, email and internet research

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Other
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to work non-standard business hours
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet requirements for driving university vehicles

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Previous experience working with Honors or high-achieving students in a university setting and/or delivering student-centered customer service
