Job Title: Sports Program Coordinator (Part-Time)

Job Location: Pleasant Grove Recreation Center

Hours & Pay: Part-Time (20-29 hours a week), $20-$30.00 per hour DOE

Pleasant Grove Recreation Sports is dedicated to providing quality recreational sports programs that promote fun, fitness, skill development, and community connection for participants of all ages and abilities. Our programs offer a positive, inclusive environment where players can learn fundamentals, build confidence, develop teamwork and sportsmanship, and stay active through healthy competition.

Our goal is simple: to enrich lives through recreation by fostering active lifestyles, meaningful relationships, and a love of sports in a safe, welcoming environment.

Job Summary:The Sports Coordinator is responsible for the planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of a variety of youth sports programs, including Fall and Spring Soccer, Track & Field, Cross Country, Junior Jazz Basketball, Volleyball, T-Ball, Coach Pitch, and Machine Pitch. This position oversees league operations, registration processes, scheduling, coach recruitment and training, equipment management, facility coordination, and program communications. The Sports Coordinator works closely with participants, parents, volunteers, officials, and community partners to ensure safe, positive, and high-quality recreational experiences that promote skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and community engagement. This position also assists with budget management, program marketing, staff supervision, and the ongoing evaluation and improvement of youth sports offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement sporting leagues and activities as directed.
  • Staff the programs and activities of designated recreational programs.
  • Supervise, train and evaluate recreation program staff members.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate the program budgets.
  • Keep accurate records and information.
  • Coordinate youth and adult recreation activities.
  • Provide daily reports, incident reports, waiver release forms and rosters.
  • Communicate with the public to assess and meet their recreational interests and needs.
  • Produce marketing and information materials for the Recreation Department.
  • Assist the Recreation Manager as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • One (1) โ€“ three (3) years of related experience; supervisory experience preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of rules and conduct of various community sports programs
  • Knowledge of general supervisory and managerial principles and practices.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Great public relations and customer service skills.
  • Be able to establish and organize schedules, activities, and coordinate facilities within the city.
  • Be able to organize and schedule special events.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
