Position Summary
This is a part-time teaching position with responsibility for planning, preparation, and presentation of quality instruction and for otherwise contributing to the fulfillment of the college's mission. This position reports to the Program Coordinator of the Surgical Technology Program.
In most cases, part-time instructors will receive $700.00 per credit hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for instruction in the appropriate teaching environment(s) and evaluates student learning.
  2. Responsible for class and laboratory preparation.
  3. Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and recommends new or revised curriculum.
  4. Provide academic advising to students.
  5. Perform department/program responsibilities.
  6. Perform institutional responsibilities which contribute to the fulfillment of the college's mission.
  7. Follow institutional policies and procedures and fulfill the terms of one's employment.
  8. Maintain professional credentials; participate and document ongoing professional development
  9. Maintain professional competency in surgical technology.
  10. Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned by appropriate administrators.

Qualifications
1. Education: Associate degree or equivalent (at least 60 semester hours in a planned program in Surgical Technology included associate degree core).
2. Experience: Minimum of three years full time experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both.
3. Certification: The Surgical Technology Instructor shall possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
