Safety Coordinator
Location: Gastonia, NC
Position Summary
IFAB is looking for a Safety Coordinator to support day to day safety activities across our manufacturing facilities. Working closely with the EHS Manager, this role will have an active presence on the production floor, helping identify hazards, support safety training, investigate incidents, and reinforce safe work practices with employees and supervisors.
The ideal candidate has hands on safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment and is comfortable working directly with employees in a fast paced production setting. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the EHS Manager with safety programs, policies, and OSHA compliance activities.
• Conduct routine safety inspections, identify workplace hazards, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Assist with incident and near miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action follow up.
• Coordinate and track employee safety training, including PPE, Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, forklift safety, and other required programs.
• Maintain accurate safety records, training documentation, inspections, and compliance records.
• Work closely with employees and supervisors on the production floor to reinforce safe work practices and address safety concerns.
• Support safety activities related to manufacturing and fabrication operations, including machine safety, material handling, welding, cutting, grinding, and proper PPE use.
• Assist with environmental compliance, hazardous waste activities, emergency preparedness, safety drills, and employee safety communications.
Qualifications
• 1 to 3 years of safety or EHS experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards and common manufacturing safety practices.
• Familiarity with safety programs such as Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, PPE, forklift safety, and incident investigation.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, and management.
• Comfortable working regularly on the production floor in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Preferred Experience
Experience in metal fabrication, welding, machining, automotive, or other industrial manufacturing environments is highly valued. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 General Industry training is also a plus.
