Job description

GENERAL FUNCTION:
The House Manager shall be responsible for the administrative and programmatic duties for the facilities they are assigned to. This includes ensuring that service recipient's needs are met, staffing ratio is correct, that staff are properly trained, that all paperwork is complete and accurate and all facilities under their care meet DIDS & licensure requirements. The House Manager supervises the Direct Support Professionals and is responsible for establishing the staffing patterns and schedules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities assistance with performing the essential functions of this position.
  1. Assists with supervision, evaluations, completion of disciplinary actions, hiring and firing of Direct Support Professionals in the homes assigned, with input and approval of the Program Coordinator and/or Program Director/Assistant
  2. Attends ISP meetings and Circle of Support meetings as required. Also participates in the development of ISP's, service recipient monthly calendars, documentation of service recipient's monthly reviews. Assures community support is in accordance with ISP's.
  3. Schedules and holds regular staff meetings and staff training (proper implementation of service recipient programs, policies and procedures, orientation of new staff). Assures that communication is maintained with all staff. Develops and implements staffing patterns with input from the Direct Support Professionals and approval of the coordinator and/or Program Director/Assistant to ensure appropriate coverage of all shifts and the completion of all duties.
  4. Provides direct service coverage, which includes transporting service recipients as required.
  5. Assures programmatic and administrative supervision of staff on all shifts.
  6. Assures that all aspects of the service recipient's records are current and conform to all regulations and standards.
  7. Assures that all required/recommended medical appointments are scheduled; assures that staff coverage is arranged to accompany service recipients to their appointments and assures communication to all staff regarding that appointment.
  8. Assures all incidents are reported according to policies and procedures promptly and timely.
  9. Maintains records and security for all service recipients and program funds and maintains an inventory for all service recipient possessions and procures additional items as needed and approved.
  10. Maintains expenditures within the approved budget for assigned homes.
  11. Maintains and monitors the use, condition, availability, and storage of all furniture, appliances, and other household resources including the home.
  12. Maintains a safe and clean home in accordance with all standards.
  13. Monitors the acquisition, use, availability, preparation and storage of all food and household supplies.
  14. Approves and posts monthly menus.
  15. Assures that monthly fire and severe weather drills are conducted and properly documented.
  16. Completes and disseminates monthly home calendars which contain all appointments, outings, events, in-services, meetings, etc. scheduled for the month.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned by the coordinator and/or Program Coordinator.
  18. This position is expected to have open, frank, and timely communication with their manager and staff.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  1. Exhibits behaviors and best practices that are consistent with the vision and values of SSMS.
  2. Practices safe work habits to eliminate and control potential safety and health hazards and to maintain a safe work environment. Attends all safety training as scheduled.
  3. Work as part of the team to ensure that SSMS Quality Management principles (Plan, Measure, Assess. Improve) are practiced and achieved.
  4. Operates SSMS and personal transportation in a safe and healthy manner.
  5. Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned by designated and/or authorized staff.

MINIIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must be 21 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have one year's experience in direct service with adults with mental disabilities. Must be able to do heavy lifting in assisting with service recipient's personal care, if applicable. Must have functional computer knowledge. Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record throughout employment with SSMS. Must meet state and local requirements regarding criminal background check, sexual offender check, abuse registry, and felony offender listing. Must have current TB skin test or chest x-ray. Must meet all training requirements and keep training current.
