The Michigan Black Business Alliance (MBBA) is the leading voice for Black entrepreneurship in Michigan. Our mission is to help close the racial wealth gap by advocating for policies, creating programs, and building partnerships that lead to thriving, profitable Black-owned businesses. Through bold leadership, cultural connection, and intentional systems-building, we connect Black businesses to capital, resources, and opportunity.
Position Summary
The Membership & Programs Fellow supports the day-to-day delivery of MBBA's core programs and the overall member experience. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants exposure to nonprofit program management, small-business support services, and community-facing events, working directly with the Director of Member Experience and program facilitators. This is a 10-month position from August 2026 - May 2027 working up to 30 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support weekly program reporting by collecting facilitator updates and helping maintain the cross-program tracking workbook and rollup report shared with leadership.
  • Assist with maintaining the Monday.com programs tracker, including logging action items and following up on outstanding tasks with program leads.
  • Provide on-the-ground support for program milestones and events, including cohort orientations, workshops, and graduations (e.g., UpNxt and BLK Print graduation ceremonies).
  • Help coordinate technical assistance requests and intake for participants across programs, routing requests to the right resource or partner.

You'll report to the Director of Member Experience and collaborate regularly with program facilitators across Capital Connect, GGA, BizWiz/Solutions Lab, BLK Print, Hardy Hospitality, and UpNxt, as well as MBBA's broader programs and membership team.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in business, public administration, nonprofit management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple deadlines across several programs at once.
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets); experience with Monday.com or similar project-management tools is a plus.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
  • Genuine interest in Black entrepreneurship, economic development, and community-based programs.
  • Detroit-based and able to work in-person throughout the fellowship.
