Job description

Primary Duties & Essential Functions:
  • Monitors, maintains and utilizes sound working knowledge of all program standards (OPWDD, CSE and HIPPA).
  • Supervise, hire, on-board, mentor, coach and terminate house managers to ensure a safe and successful environment the program individuals.
  • Ensures the implementation of OPWDD Core Competencies. Evaluates staff on an ongoing basis to ensure Direct Support Professionals are displaying the OPWDD Core Competencies.
  • Works collaboratively with the House Manger to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in each assigned program.
  • Oversees program budget and ensures compliance of budget.
  • Oversees and audits individual's funds to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Attends and participates in treatment Teams and individual annual meetings.
  • Completes on going compliance inspections of assigned programs. Ensures compliance violations are corrected.
  • Ensures all direct care staff understand and are able to implement the Staff Action plans and behavior support plans for all individuals in the program.
  • Maintains an environment that is safe by ensuring agency policies are upheld.
  • Review individual logs & communication logs.
  • Participates in the Treatment Team, Clinical Management meetings, and other committees as assigned.
  • Facilitating meetings as delegated.
  • Manages in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, union contract, agency policies, etc
  • Attends elective internal and external training for continued professional development.
  • Responsible to check email daily and communicate appropriate information to staff.
  • Ensures individual medical needs are being met.
  • Ensure living environment is safe and sanitary.
  • Ensures the program has adequate supplies to care for the individuals.
  • Participates in Community Services Executive on Call rotation as assigned.
  • Assist with maintaining individuals benefits as assigned.
  • Provide leadership, motivation and encourages that practices be a model of care that reflects the philosophy and vision of the agency.
  • Deliver and create a safe, therapeutic environment of care to all individuals and their families served.
  • Display knowledge of community-based resources throughout the Capital Region.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or designee.

Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
  • High school diploma/GED required. Associate degree preferred. Will substitute degree requirement for previous supervisory experience within related field and related work experience in the field of human services.
  • 1 Year supervisory experience.
  • 3 years' experience of related work in the human services field.
  • Valid New York State driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to perform therapeutic holds based on approved interventions.
  • High level of communication skills is required.
  • Promotes and supports cultural diversity and competence and is strength-based.

Abilities and Working Conditions:
  • Must be available to work a 40-hour work week with flexibility.
  • Must have a valid NYS driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population.
  • Occasional travel to all residences.
  • Ability to deal positively with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
