Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia - principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). PVCC is nationally recognized for its outstanding transfer curriculum; its relationship with its neighbor, the University of Virginia; and its Workforce Development Programs serving local employers.
Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is seeking qualified and interested Adjunct Clinical Nursing Instructors in one or more of the following areas: Basic Skills, Med-Surge Nursing, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and/or Mental Health Nursing.
Applications will be received and considered on a continuous basis, as openings occur. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until needed positions are filled and/or the closing date of our announcement.
The Adjunct Clinical Nursing Instructor will supervise and evaluate the students' performance of skills and other nursing activities to assure safe practice. They will also collaborate with full-time nursing faculty at PVCC to review student progress in meeting clinical objectives. They will also provide direct feedback to the students regarding clinical performance.
Responsibilities
Guiding, facilitating, supervising, and mentoring a group of up to 10 students in a clinical setting. Clinical experiences are comprised of 45 hours hands-on with students and 10 hours of paperwork over a period of 8-weeks.
Adjunct Clinical Faculty Pay Rate Per Hour
  • Nursing Clinical Day-BSN Holder $34.67
  • Nursing Clinical Weekend-BSN Holder $49.72
  • Nursing Clinical Day-MSN Holder $37.67
  • Nursing Clinical Weekend-MSN Holder $56.79

Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess expert skills, knowledge, experience and education in the subject area and a history of successful teaching or related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing for the Associate degree Nursing Program
  • Associate degree in Nursing for the Practical Nursing Program
  • Valid license, without restrictions, to practice nursing in Virginia
  • At least two (2) years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct care prior to employment by the college

Additional Considerations
  • Two years teaching experience, work experience in the field, and experience with on-line teaching
  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing
  • Experience teaching in an Associate degree or Practical Nursing program
  • Experience teaching in a community college setting
