Job description



St. Margaret’s Center is a community center of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles in the Inglewood area of Los Angeles. The Center provides a comprehensive range of services for low-income and unhoused populations, from food programs, services for individuals experiencing homelessness, education programs, health and wellness services and social support programs. Staff ranges from 15-18 members, and dozens of regular volunteers. An average of 10,000 participants receive approximately 50,000 services each year.

The Associate Program Director oversees the administration and management of the Center, coordinating program and facility management, marketing and social media presence, fiscal and budget management, staff development, public relations, fundraising and quality improvement. The Associate Director is also responsible for volunteer management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the Center’s programs and staffing.
  • Has primary responsibility for volunteer program: recruiting, screening, training, scheduling supervising and managing.
  • Has primary responsibility for marketing and social media presence: creating content and monitoring activities and platforms.
  • Responsible for the facility and its ongoing maintenance and improvement.
  • Collaborates with the Director in resource development: responsible for grant applications, contracts, budgets and fundraising activities.
  • Assisting with the Center’s Advisory Board: recruiting members, and guiding activities.
  • Responsible for the Center in the absence of the Director.
  • Acts as a liaison between various organizations, governmental agencies and community leaders in the region.
  • Supervises program staff and maintenance program records in accordance with approved standards and practices.
  • Ensures compliance with standards established by federal, state, and local government.
  • Provides staff development and training to ensure competency, and devises retention policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in social work or related field, Master's preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience working for a non-profit
  • Five years of experience managing and supervising staff
  • Knowledge in fundraising & marketing required
  • Must have excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual (Spanish-written and oral proficiency) preferred
  • Leadership in organization and community settings a plus
