BASES (Before and After School Extended Services)
Part-Time Assistant Teacher
Located in Vogel Wetmore School, Torrington, CT
Job Description: EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to work in the BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) Before School Program in Torrington. The qualified candidate will be professional, have experience working with elementary school-aged children, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be available during before-school hours (6:45 am- 8:45am). Vogel Wetmore staff are encouraged to apply.The Assistant Teacher works under the supervision of the Site Coordinator and the BASES Administrative Team.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Site Coordinator in the operation of the before school program daily
  • Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment
  • Maintain positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel
  • Set up and clean up of program site
  • First Aid/CPR/Meds Admin certification to be acquired within 3 months of hire
  • Other duties as may be assigned
  • Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position

Qualifications:
  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent, college course work in ECE/ELED or related field preferred
  • Experience working with School Aged Children
  • Knowledge of Child Development
  • Awareness of Age-Appropriate curriculum activities
  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Priority given to current Vogel Wetmore School Employees

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand for the entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students.
