Job description

CAMECA Instruments is seeking an experienced NPD Program Manager, for their APT Technology to lead complex new product development programs from business case through industrialization and launch. This role is responsible for ensuring that programs deliver the right product, at the right cost, at the right time-while meeting business and financial objectives.
The ideal candidate is a strong cross-functional leader who combines technical understanding, business acumen, and execution discipline to drive successful product launches in a complex engineering environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead multiple new product development programs across the full lifecycle, from concept and business case through product launch
  • Own overall program performance across scope, schedule, cost, and launch readiness
  • Ensure alignment among Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Service, and Finance
  • Maintain and validate the program business case, including COGS, profitability, IRR, payback, and total spend
  • Drive early identification of risks, cost gaps, and execution issues, and lead corrective actions
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to achieve target cost through design-to-cost, supplier optimization, and manufacturing efficiency
  • Guide programs through stage-gate and DFSS (design for six sigma) processes with clear, fact-based readiness criteria
  • Ensure industrialization readiness, including BOM maturity, supplier readiness, manufacturing capability, and service preparation
  • Maintain strong execution discipline through milestone tracking, critical path management, and RAID reviews.
  • Provide concise, data-driven updates to leadership and escalate issues as needed.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; MBA preferred
  • 8-15+ years of experience in program management, project management, or engineering/manufacturing leadership roles
  • Experience leading complex new product development programs in a technical or industrial environment
  • Background in complex electromechanical systems or scientific instrumentation strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of stage-gate product development processes, cost management, and industrialization
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, purchasing, finance, and service teams
  • Demonstrated ability to manage suppliers, influence stakeholders, and drive accountability without direct authority.
  • Travel: 10% Internationally

Preferred Skills:
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including understanding of COGS, margin, IRR, and payback
  • Experience with value engineering, design-to-cost, and supplier cost optimization
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, sourcing strategies, BOM structures, and ERP systems
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and ambiguity
