Job description

Marana Health is seeking a Job Coach to join the Employment Services team at the Copper Cafe, inside of the Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ. The Job Coach is responsible for training and coaching Work Adjustment Trainees (Trainees) as they learn job skills, work habits, and workplace behaviors in preparation for employment. Marana Health is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 14 sites in Tucson and Pima County. Our mission is to improve our Community by providing exceptional, whole-person healthcare.
The following qualifications are required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (may be completed with Marana Health upon hire)
  • First Aid certification (may be completed with Marana Health upon hire)
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Current Arizona driver's license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by Marana Health)

The following qualifications are preferred:
  • Associate degree in social services, business, or related field
  • 2 years' experience in the behavioral health or related social services field proving rehabilitation services to clients with disabilities.
  • Experience working with the State AHCCCS Complete Care (ACC) and Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) clients
  • One year retail or restaurant experience
  • Experience with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and cash handling
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.
This position has the following supervisory responsibility:
  • May occasionally provide direction, training, or guidance to others.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills with emphasis on responsiveness, building trust, mutual respect, and courtesy.
  • Computer proficient.
  • Knowledge of State ACC and RBHA requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of current versions of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and International Classification of Diseases (ICD).
  • Ability to identify, evaluate and analyze trainee's employment barriers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides direction and support to trainees in the Job Services Program.
  • Establishes rapport and communicates expectations to trainees, understanding the interests and capabilities of each trainee.
  • Modifies training sessions to match the ability of the trainee to achieve identified objectives on their Individual Service Plan (ISP).
  • Conducts trainee assessments including reviewing adaptive behaviors, transportation options, the trainee's expressed willingness to work, and other relevant factors.
  • Assists with the review of trainees for competitive employment placements.
  • Maintains communications with Managers and Employment Service Supervisor (ESS) regarding program and facility operations.
  • Conducts job coaching off premises, as appropriate.
  • Ensures Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA), local health and safety codes, and company safety and security policies are met.
  • Participates in scheduling trainees to ensure appropriate staffing at all times.
  • Handles customer concerns in a quick, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Intervenes during crisis situations in order to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assists with the flow of business and provides coverage when the Cafรฉ Manager or Assistant Cafรฉ Manager are not available.
  • Operates the POS system, implements proper cash handling and end of-the-day balancing and closing.
  • Acts as a willing and efficient liaison between MHC behavioral health and other behavioral health agencies.
  • Interacts effectively with community members and other agency personnel to promote trust, productivity and growth.
  • Participates in departmental meetings, client staffings, case reviews, staff development, and policy and procedure development.
  • Maintains general behavioral health standards and keeps abreast of State and RBHA guidelines by reading and attending in-services and workshops as appropriate and indicated in staff development plan.
  • Uses appropriate incident reporting procedures when documenting unsafe or problematic incidents involving trainees.
