Position Title

Position Title Department Head/ Professor/Associate Professor- Mathematics

Job Summary

While the area of specialization is open, the candidate must possess the ability to teach introductory as well as advanced courses in Mathematics. Administer retention, student advisement, class schedule planning, and general supervision of teaching, service and related activities of the department. Develop best practices to recruit and retain scholarly students. Provide leadership in developing innovative and insightful program to improve student success in mathematics.

  • Teach introductory as well as advanced courses in Mathematics.
  • Administer, retention, student advisement, class schedule planning, and general supervision of teaching, service and related activities of the department.
  • Develop best practices to recruit and retain scholarly students.
  • Provide leadership in developing innovative and insightful program to improve student success in mathematics.
  • Provide the vision and leadership to ensure greater entry of our student into professional careers.
  • Qualify for the rank for associate professor or professor in mathematics as per the Tuskegee University Faculty Handbook.
  • Pursue an independent scholarly research program, publish in peer reviewed high impact journals.
  • Develop successful grant proposals to attract external funding to support the research program.
  • Build productive and long-term relationships with alumni and corporate sponsors.
  • Mentor new faculty and foster a positive and growing environment.
  • Represent the Department, College and University at professional meetings.
  • Teach at least two courses each semester.
  • Advise the Dean, regularly, through conferences and reports, on the status of the academic program and personnel, educational goals, accreditation of programs and other matters, that will lead to providing excellent academic programs.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by the Dean, Provost and President.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution of higher education and possess the qualifications necessary to hold a tenured position.
  • Five or more years of college teaching in related field to the appointment of associate or full professor with tenure.
  • Experience with integrated practice and collaborative learning.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity through publications.
  • Evidence of strong track record of receiving external grant funds.
