Location: Dearborn, MI

Type: Full-Time, Onsite

Shift: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm M-F

Compensation Range: $25 – $34 per hour, based on experience and weld test performance

Industry: Steel Pipe Manufacturing / Industrial Production

About the Opportunity

A well-established steel pipe manufacturer in Dearborn, Michigan is seeking 2–3 skilled MCAW / MIG Welders to join its team.

This role is specifically focused on Metal-Cored Arc Welding (MCAW) using a MIG-style welding machine and 1/16” metal-cored wire. The strongest candidates will have direct hands-on experience with metal-core welding in heavy steel, structural, pipe, or industrial manufacturing environments.

Candidates with extensive MIG/GMAW experience may also be considered, particularly if they have worked with larger-diameter wire, heavy material, structural steel, or pipe. SMAW / Stick welding experience is a plus.

Real-world welding ability, consistency, and quality of workmanship will be the deciding factors, and candidates should be prepared to complete a hands-on weld test.

What You’ll Do

• Perform Metal-Cored Arc Welding (MCAW) using 1/16” metal-cored wire

• Weld steel pipe and related components in an industrial manufacturing environment

• Produce consistent, high-quality welds according to job specifications

• Work with heavy steel, pipe, and structural components as required

• Set up and operate MIG-style wire-feed welding equipment

• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and production drawings

• Inspect completed welds for quality, penetration, consistency, and overall workmanship

• Prepare materials and work areas for welding operations

• Use grinders, torches, hand tools, and other related welding equipment

• Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures

• Work collaboratively with production and other skilled trades personnel to meet daily goals

What You Bring

• Strong hands-on MCAW / metal-cored wire welding experience preferred

• Experience running 1/16” metal-cored wire strongly preferred

• Strong MIG / GMAW welding background

• 5+ years of professional welding experience preferred

• Experience welding steel pipe, structural steel, heavy plate, or other heavy-gauge material strongly preferred

• Ability to pass a hands-on weld test

• Ability to weld in multiple positions

• Strong understanding of weld penetration, consistency, and structural integrity

• Experience reading blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings

• AWS welding certification preferred

• SMAW / Stick welding experience is a plus

• Flux Core welding experience is a plus

• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship

• Dependable work history and a safety-focused approach

Compensation

• $25 – $34 per hour, based on experience and weld test performance

• Candidates with direct MCAW experience, 1/16” metal-core wire experience, structural steel or pipe backgrounds, AWS certifications, or additional SMAW capabilities may be considered toward the upper end of the range
