SUMMARY

The Technical Trainer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering training programs that advance employee competencies in support of ALOFT AeroArchitects’ operational goals. Through a combination of classroom instruction, on-the-job training (OJT), and comprehensive curriculum development, this role enhances the technical proficiency and safety awareness of all employees. The Technical Trainer also plays a key role in orienting new hires into company standards while advancing technical proficiency of existing employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct engaging classroom and on-the-job training (OJT) sessions on topics such as aircraft systems, aviation regulations, safety procedures, and ALOFT-specific programs.
  • Manage the classroom environment to promote effective learning, ensuring sessions run smoothly and are free of distractions; Integrate hands-on activities, mixed-media, interactive discussions, and real-world scenarios to enhance understanding and retention, catering to various learning styles to maximize engagement.
  • Monitor student progress and tailor instruction to accommodate varying learning styles and individual needs.
  • Ensure students adhere to safety guidelines throughout training and that safe work practices are integrated into instruction.
  • Develop, maintain, and update instructional materials, including presentations, manuals, handouts, labs and other training resources, in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Oversee the production of all classroom materials, ensuring consistency in content and alignment with company standards.
  • Produce training schedules, course agendas, and classroom plans that align with ALOFT Training Programs and Academy requirements.
  • Administer and grade exams and hands-on assessments to evaluate student knowledge and proficiency, providing constructive feedback to support learning and improvement.
  • Regularly evaluate and improve training programs to reflect industry developments, feedback, and best practices.
  • Assess OJT sessions conducted by ALOFT Authorized OJT Instructors for consistency, effectiveness, and documentation accuracy.
  • Provide individual support to trainees, answering questions, addressing concerns, and guiding them through challenging concepts.
  • Maintain detailed training records, including progress tracking, data input, and adherence to company documentation standards.
  • Work closely with management to identify training needs and align training plans with organizational goals.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating ALOFT policies and procedures relevant to training.
  • Evaluate third-party training vendors and programs for curriculum quality, adherence to standards, and overall performance.
  • Conduct all training activities within a safe work environment, integrating safe work practices as part of the curriculum.
  • Ensure all training sessions are compliant with section and company procedures, as well as regulatory guidelines.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; strong reading, writing, and math abilities are essential. An Associate's degree from a technical trade school or higher is preferred
  • 1 to 3 years of proven experience as a technical trainer
  • Proficient in aircraft systems, tools, and technical manuals. Skilled in instructing aircraft maintenance procedures and safety practices effectively.
  • Experience with instructional design and curriculum development including technical course content.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner; comfortable speaking to groups.
  • Ability to manage the full training cycle, including needs assessment, planning, development, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Proficiency in creating a productive classroom environment, managing group dynamics, and fostering engagement.
  • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software and other company and discipline specific software applications, in particular PowerPoint; hands-on experience with Learning Management Software (LMS) preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret technical procedures and manuals.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • None required. FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate or a teaching credential preferred.
